No, that was cervical cancer I think.

I wish they'd make their mind up who has breast cancer! It was reported it was Frankie.

Can't you put all of it in spoiler tags? It's bloody annoying like that.

I hope they don't go through with this.

I know this sounds really terrible (forgive me!) but when a character gets cancer, it's always exciting (for want of a better, more appropriate word!) to see how it affects them and whetehr they will survive and fight the cancer.
But if we have been told "not to worry" and that Sue Nicholls is not leaving in the near future, it kind of implies that she survives.
I dunno, it just seems like a waste of time.

No, none of it needs to be inspoiler tags because the word "Spoiler" is in the thread title.

Whether or not they go with the "Audrey has breast cancer" story remains to be seen but it's already known that Mike dies although it's not supposed to be until next year, isn't it?

Johnny Briggs has NOT filmed his final scenes and won't be anytime soon. So that makes the credability of the rest of the information rather questionable.

We don't know he dies, just that he leaves. He's in excellent health. You don't die from Altzheimers, it's an illness of the mind not the body. You can linger for years.
Anyway, if he's filmed his last scenes he'll have gone by Christmas, and he's not leaving til well into next year.

And they aren't spoilers, they're rumours. There's a difference. A spoiler is something that is definitely going to happen. A rumour is just that - a rumour about something that might happen.

So far it has been rumoured Frankie finds the lump, then it was Liz, now it's Audrey. Depends what age group they are going with, if it happens. Audrey (60's) Liz (40's - tho' she's 50 next year) or Frankie (30's)

I certainly don't believe Johnny has filmed his final scenes. The storyline has barely started! (Although he HAS to die as his exit IMO, otherwise there will be all sorts of loose ends over the factory).

That leads me to disbelieve the rest of it. I suspect there is an upcoming breast cancer storyline and the Corrie press office are trying to muddy the waters over who it will be (good for them, I don't want to know months in advance).

I think we can discount the Mike Baldwin bit. Yes, I am fairly sure he will die as his final storyline but it's a bit quick for the final scenes already to have been filmed. The breast cancer story certainly sounds plausible. I think that Audrey would make a much stronger "victim" than Frankie for this plot line. The government encourages soaps to portray social issues and an Audrey breast cancer storyline would certainly cause a huge amount of publicity for this very important issue.

I agree - and as breast cancer mainly affects older women rather than women of Frankie's age, it would be a good storyline for Audrey. I don't think a soap has ever done a breast cancer storyline in an older woman?

I do not find any entertainment value in cancer stories. My husband recently died after living a sickening five years of dealing with this filthy disease. Invariably the story lines are incorrect and do not deal with the truth of cancer. Alma's cervical cancer and Peggy's breast cancer were not indicative of this stinking disease.

Cancer is not something to be used as an entertainment factor. Neither can it be argued these storylines educate. There is so much information out there already that everyone must be aware of the early signs of this disease.

Certainly everyone is aware that breast cancer is not confined to older women - just look at Kylie, is this story riding on her experience.

Peggy's cancer storyline had slipped my mind, but I thought it was quite well done. Everyone's experience will be different, but my mother has had breast cancer twice (most recently two years ago) and her experience wasn't that different to Peggy's from what I remember of the storyline.

Diane's (Edale) colon cancer storyline has been brilliantly handled IMO. It seemed well researched, and wasn't rushed or glossed over.

Dot's kidney cancer and Alma's cervical cancer certainly weren't well done.

But I think if Corrie were going to do another cancer storyline they would learn from the mistakes made with Alma - they rushed it far too much in order to use it as her exit.

I for one won't be watching during the cancer storyline. Having lost a dear relative to cancer it would be too depressing to view for me.
Sue Nicholls is a good actress & Im sure it will be handled sensitively but I cannot watch subjects like this for my entertainment.

They will never kill off Ken Barlow, not while Bill Roache can still walk and talk.
