Impressions Of "Heathen Chemistry", The new Oasis Album
What are your thoughts?
I am a bit dissapointed. It seems to me like an album of B-sides (although Oasis B-Sides are top), it is not what I was expecting of the album. Just not quite the same standard that I am used to. Saying that, apparently it is a real grower, and it turns out to be very good. In the scheme of things: (My Fav's)

Be Here Now
Definately Maybe
SOTSOG
Heathen Chemistry
Morning Glory
+ watch out for hidden track at 33:15 of track 11 |

i wouldnt say it sounded like their b-sides, now their b-sides are starting to consist of just acustic tracks. i liked it, it does grow on you and there are some great songs. it's one of their better albums, but it's by no means stuff they have done before. as soon as people played stop crying your heart out, everyone was listing about five different oasis songs that it sounded like, well the album isn't just rip-offs of old stuff. the best tracks are
thehindutimes stop crying your heart out little by little songbird she is love all in the mind born on a different cloud and better man. as far as it compared to other albums 1: Definately Maybe 2: Morning Glory 3: Heathen Chemistry 4: Be Here now 5: Masterplan 6: SOTSOG |

I personally think it sounds closest to Morning Glory, not Def. Maybe as the band were suggesting. |

I like it.
It's better than SOTSOG by a country mile. It doesn't have a corking song on it, but there are no bad songs on the album IMO. They are all good. |

It's such a good album and I can't find a bad song on it. They only have 11 tracks on it, where some groups like to push 14 on, but it's short and sweet. Standing on the Shoulder of Giants was terrible, Sunday Morning Call was the only decent song and I feared the worst for the band after buying that album, but they've improved so much. Liam's songs on the album that he somehow wrote are great. Songbird and Born on a Different cloud are two examples, I guess it must run in the family.
Little by Little is another top song off the album and I reckon that will be their next single. |

Worst one was the Beastieboys album, which had a break of forty mins or so to play a bit at the end Im surprised it took so long for you lot to catch on what this album was about. Good luck to them, theyve pulled themselves out of apparent povery oop North, by copying, riding the publicity train and letting the sheep choose whether its genuine or not. best quote ? - 'doesnt have a corking song on it. But many will still buy it and stick it the 'collection' Baaaaaaaa.... |

They buy it because they are oasis fans and it's their second best album out of all of them. Noel gallagher has been known to slag his own music off, but even he liked it. I'm suprised that you didn't like it Channel Hopper, that is if you are an oasis fan and you did infact buy it and listen to it, because if you had, I don't think you would have said "been done before many times" as I don't see any tack on the album resembling anything that they have previously recorded and I have most of their back catalogue. |

'I dont see any tack in it'
So whats the hidden track doing there then, does it enhance the listening pleasure for you ? Hutchio was referring to HC when he mentioned nothing corking, I dont see how you can see a different meaning in his words Second best album - your opinion only, Ogryn placed it third and I believe you did in an earlier thread as well, so its gone up in your opinion, then again only your opinion counts and that changes on a daily basis. Ive heard it twice so far and even the second time it really does little to dispel that its simply more of the same. Ogryn asked in the first post 'what are your thoughts', not 'fans only may answer to this thread' Still sounds contrived to me so no its not my favourite by a long way, but then again I have an open mind and listen to a lot of other artists, many of which have released blinding albums by the time theyve reached their sixth stint in a studio. Maybe theyre not cut out to do it sitting down. I would suggest (my opinion only, am I allowed that ?) that Oasis are better off at doing off the cuff stuff in bars and playing live (but even the PITP this week has worried me that they are simply relying on the hype to relieve you of pocket money again). Roll on a corking album, I wont hold my breath |

Oasis have lost it. Its a shame as Noel Gallagher is a superb musician. The last two albums although good, are a shadow of DM and MG. I dont rate Heathen Chemistry above Be Here Now, which in my view is underrated as an album.
I cant see them doing more than one more album. I dont think they have recovered since Gigsy and Bonehead left. It wasnt the same band after that. Still, cant fault their live shows. Great stuff. |

The thing is, i can see oasis bringing out almost any old crap and people loving it and their tours selling out in minutes.
I am not an oasis fan, altho did like some of their earlier stuff. To me the album doesn't seem rock enough. Maybe thats not what oasis are all about anymore, but for me they've gone too mellow. Too much high pitched "stop crying your heart out" and not enough songs where you can shout the lyrics, nod your head to the drums, and strum massive chords on your air guitar. |

I listened to the Finsbury Park gig, and a couple of friends went there. They all said what I think. Oasis have lost, or are losing, passion. One of my friends left halfway through the gig because she just said it was crap. Its a real shame cause I saw them at Knebworth back in 96 and they were just awesome.

One of my friends went to all 3 Finsbury Park gigs. He said Friday and Sunday were great, but Saturday was shite (mostly to do with the sound being crap).
