...............
Kelly bitchily let slip to Edna that Ethan and Laurel have been carrying on behind Ashley’s back. Edna then informs the Bishop but Ethan saves his own neck by saying that Laurel threw herself at him. Laurel is horrified as Ethan tells her she has brought it all on herself as they would have been good together.

Elsewhere, when Sadie and Matthew arrive at the Woolpack, Aunt Phyllis comments to Jimmy that she always knew the pair would end up together. Later Jimmy asks Sadie and Matthew what’s going on but Sadie tells him not to be paranoid.

Meanwhile, Jo feels too cowardly to tell Paddy that ‘Fireblade’ is a hoax but wants to save him huge disappointment in Lisbon. She decides to send him a message telling him not to bother coming but will it get to him in time to prevent him heading off to Portugal?

How predictable is this 'blossoming' Carl and Del relationship? Especially with her and Chas supposedly being rivals already.

I really hate what they've done with Ethan. I liked him and they've seriously ****ed him up.

Has that bishop got nothing else to do but concern himself with Laurel, Ashley and Ethan?

I think the Carl/Del thing will be great with Chas coming back. Okay so it's obviously done because of the Chas/Del rivalry, but I'm not complaining

I love Ethan, although him being vindictive is out of character, but I suppose he's desperate. I wish we could keep him instead of Ashley

I must be the only person in the world who hates Del. The girl overacts beyond belief and she could never take over Chas' mantle

We've already had the Chas/Carl/Chloe triangle. Now, here we go again. Blah.

I like Del but she seemed a poor replacement when Chas went off to the army. She has nothing on her, imo.

Nah, I love her, and her pairing with Val is great (who once again was the best thing about this episode actually). Not as good as Chas no, but still fab imo.

I'm loving Jo as well, and Jasmine when she comes back, and Ivan. They really have done well with newcomers lately, I couldn't pick between them.

Okay tonight, not amazing but decent enough.

I was answering someone and brought up something different. And? We're commenting as the show goes on, and hey, it came up again. I made a comment. So? Is this a messageboard or not.

I like Jo. Didn't expect to but I do. And I love Ivan, was he in Shakespeare in Love. I'm sure that's where I recognise him from.

EDIT: Nevermind, he is. Finally did a search on imdb.

Drifter, it is her pairing with the awful and unfunny Val that has wound me up. I think Val is a character who goes round in circles without much depth and just isn't funny.

Then we're the complete opposite, cause Val's my favourite thing in it (along with Steph), lol

The 'Bishop of Hotton' does appear to have a lot of time on his hands. It annoyed me greatly that he was prepared to believe Evil Heathen without giving Laurel a proper AND private hearing. Having said that Laurel should have told the full truth. I feel sure that Heathen would have cracked if Georgy had put him under presssure.

If Ashtray decline to believe her, Laurel should dump him before he dumps her

Emmerdale is now definitely the place for unemployed pensioners.

But Drifter would probably say Val was the best thing about a episode even if she only had a 3 second scene.

I like Val too though I think she's great although she wasn't the best thing in the episode tonight as she wasn't used enough to be.

Ethan is so sly and behaving totally out of character, I don't even believe that he would do what he did regardless of whether he loves Laurel or not.

Kelly is horrible, Adele's facial expressions are minging as well!

Good episode overall but the Sadie and Matthew stuff is pretty boring and I'm just not interested in Del getting it on with Carl which is clearly a plot device for when Chas gets back as others have mentioned.

Still like Del as a character though.

Despite the Ethan stuff being unbelievable it was enjoyable to watch which was lucky really as it made up most of this episode.

Episode rating: 7/10

I'm not that deluded

She was to me by default, with the exception of maybe Betty. It was calling Nicola "smiler" that did it and her general way of gonig about thnigs, like winding up Del.

I love Laurel though, but not as much as usual tonight. She should have had a right go at the bishop, and she didn't seem at all surprised that Ethan lied.

Val is great though but she bounces best off Diane, Rodney or Paul.

They don't seem to have used Steph a great deal since the Shelley incident and I'm really missing her, it was her evil antics that made Emmerdale must watch television for me.

Does anybody know if she does kill Jasmine? It would just be great if that rumour was true.

Val is great but for someone who is in great danger of a prison sentence she seems to be doing a lot of planning for the future.

That's a shame, it would have been nice to see Carl with his top off again

Yeah, although she features quite a lot again next week, with a touch of the dark Steph coming through again

I doubt it, Jasmine has proved popular and we are lacking teens at the moment apart from Debbie and Daz. We need another teenager to get some storylines, cause Debbie steals them all (appropriate for a Dingle ). Not sure when Jasmine is back, but I suspect around the time of the wedding, and when Ashley's dad turns up.

Of course not, they need to use the Kings every episode there is no room for much better characters. We all know Steph would flatten Sadie with her fingernail
