Corrie Star Quits
From teletext Page 132:
Corrie actress Sally Lindsay who plays put upon barmaid Shelley Unwin is quitting the soap after 5 years. Sally, 32, will bow out when her current contract ends on June 2006. She said:- "I think Shelley has been through so much as a character during my time here. I;m really looking forward to working on different projects. I will always have a massive affection for Corrie & I want to thank everyone there". Corrie bosses have praised Sally Lindsay, who is quitting her role as bullied barmaid Shelley in June. Producer Tony Wood said:- "Sally has been fantastic during her time here. She has done everything that has been asked of her & more. She is talented actress & her portrayal of Shelley's mental abuse at the hands of Charlie was excellent. I understand her desire to move on & wish her every success." Corrie bosses say that Sally Lindsay's character Shelley is unlikely to be killed off when the actress quits the soap in June. She has become one of the show's most popular characters in recent years with millions gripped by Shelley's abusive relationship with bully Charlie who she dumped at the altar last month. A Corrie spokeswoman said: "It's unlikely she'll be killed off, leaving the door open for a possible return." |
