Hi All,

I have a Nokia 3230 on an O2 online taffiff (200 xnet mins, 500 txts)

Whenever I turn on the phone I get a message saying "new voice message on line 2"

Now, I haven't, AFAIK, got a second line - the voicemail icon also stays on the screen.

Whenever I get a txt message the message pops up. If I ok it, it asks me to change outgoing line. If I say yes to this it will take me back to the menu and allow me to open the message.

I have had the phone replaced, had a new sim card, turned my voicemail off for ages, call diverts off etc.

Anyone have any ideas?

Paul

Your on O2 and its coming up with "New voice message on line 2" ?

Only Orange in the UK support Line 2, so how this is happening i do not know. Its got to have the Orange firmware on it, as Orange told me that Line 2 is one feature you cannot have unless its an Orange phone (since they modify the software for this).

Have you tried holding down the # key for 2 seconds to change out going phone line and then try dialing voice mail?

This is a weird one.

Yes, on o2! Thats pretty much what Nokia told me, looks like i'm going to have to send the phone back, can't be having this!

I'l try the changing line trick - maybe I should try the latest firmware, but again, it will have to go back to a repair centre methinks!

I doubt this problem is associated to the network, however have you tried another sim in your phone? As stated o2 dont have a second voice line facility. However you can have a second line for data or even a third for fax though this is invisible to your phone.

yeah, had another sim in the phone, even had a replacement sim of my own!

I have just a bog standard tariff - no extra lines etc (well, that I know to!)

They are telling me to take it to an o2 shop and they will be able to help - although I'm not convinced!

I only stopped with them because I could get the phone for free and it has a big enough screen to get tomtom working.
