I watched EE upstairs tonight, as OH was watching footie.. again... anyway, i was laughing OUT LOUD and he heard, and doesnt believe I was watching EE.... He cant understand why I would lie about what TV show I watched...lol

Anyway, I have to agree with everyone, the Mitchell boys had me in stitches tonight... fantastic banter... I hope that side to their characters are kept in the show, and not sidelined to make way for the violent stuff...

Brill episode, cant wait for more...

The 2 of them swinging that guy who was choking Peggy was great. They tossed him into the bushes and then Phil says something about thorns. LOL!

I got the impression that Ross Kemp and Steve McFadden were almost taking the p*ss with their characters last night, they used to be so serious. It did make for much better viewing, though. If only Barbara Windsor would leave, I might even start watching properly again! BTW, I thought she got her fingers mashed in a door a couple of days ago, didn't see any bandages or anything, although I could have missed it.

Back on topic - tonight's episode was funny. the banter between Phil and Grant "I'm sorry I tried to shoot you" "I'm sorry I tried to drown you" was fantastic! ”

I WAS NOT HAVING A DIG AT CORRIE. I WAS JUST SAYING that i prefer this kind of comedy compared to Corries PANTO usaully involving Cilla and Les or Bakery Guy.

It was a bit pantoish wasn't it? But it was funny as well. So much better than the tosh that we have been getting recently from that other double act Minty and Garry.

Great scripting last night… enjoyed it mucho. I’m not the biggest EE fan, but I’ve made sure I sat down and watched it this week. The brothers Mitchell always entertained me.

Couple more lines:

Phil: Sorry for trying to shoot you!
Grant: Sorry for trying to drown you!

Pat: I think we’re going to need a bigger food budget.

Phil: He called you granddad!

Grant: Come on Phil, lets go… he’s gone into Ronnie and Reggie mode.

Yes, I found the episode very funny, I thought Ross Kemp and Steve McFadden played their parts very well, but it was more the writing. I agree with susie4964, it did feel like they were taking the mick a bit, but I liked that, I don't remember them doing that a few years back or so, but it makes it much more amusing then the same old thuggish Grant and Phil.

Did anyone else laugh when Sharon came down and appeared, orange as ever, and said "He ain't her boyfriend, he's my husband!" I thought that was hilarious, I don't think it was meant to be, but I couldn't help laughing.

Grant and Phil's return had a lot in common with their entrance away back in the day. IIRC, they were helping Julie the hairdresser who was trying to get a washing machine into her salon. They then entered The Vic for the first time laughing and joking, and really getting on with Julie (Chrissie looks a bit similar to Julie)

Pat and Alfie are the funniest! I liked it when Alfie said to Pat a month or so back:

'Pat, you've been around the block a few times aint you?'. The look on her face was brill.

Quote:
“Dennis: I dont want to have to hurt you

Grant: Thats hardly likely

And

Pat: How long they staying

Peggy: Till sam comes out of pirson

Pat: I hope she doesnt get 20 years

My fav lines from tonight”

Were they the lines from the opening episode of the Mitchell return? Classic.
