hi,

currebtly im with telewest and pay £26 a month for unlimited fone calls to anywhere in uk@ any time but i was actually wondering to know is there any cheaper deal available on net?

I have seen vonage and that sounded pretty good but i still doubt about it.

they offering unlimited fone calls for £9.99 only which means i can save £15 a month.

I would be very thankful if you could guide me about it.

Many thanks in advance

do you have broadband, vonage requires use of a broadband internet service. Are you sure your unlimited phone calls deal excludes line rental otherwise the costs will be similar.

To clarify, yes, All TW "Unlimited" packages include line-rental.

However, by using Vonage, you can effectively scrap your normal phone-line so will not be paying line-rental.

If you are regularly racking-up more than a tenner's-worth of call charges then VoIP from Vonage might be worth a look.

YES I DO HAVE TELEWEST BROADBAND and line rental includes so all together i pay £26 a month.

If i buy vonage package which will only cost me £9.99 a month then its worth getting it.

Im just wondering to know whether its a good service or not.

I have vonage, it's a brilliant service, especially when you buy a US Telephone number for family in the USA in the use to call for only 4.99! (so for them it would be national rate)

As regulars will know, I use Sipgate. They don't offer an unlimited package, but if like me you're often not at home you can save more money as there's no minimum monthly spend (plus your incoming number is free also).

They do a 1,000 minute package to landlines for £5.90 per month in the UK and other rates are pretty good so you might want to look into it as well - only thing compared to Vonage is they don't offer a 999 service.

There's also FreeTalk from Dixons for £6.99 a month with unlimited calls to UK geographic numbers. Haven't tried it myself, but I've heard no horror stories yet.

For the past 18 months(ish) I have been using www.sipgate.co.uk for a free incoming phone number, you can make calls with them but they are charged for, you can call other sipgate numbers for free.

For 7 months I was using www.voipbuster.com for completely free landline calls, with no monthly charge. However they have just introduced a charge for UK landlines at 1c/min.

I know use www.sipdiscount.com for calling UK landline (same company as voipbuster) they offer for no monthly fee free calls to UK landlines.

Don't like vonage, as you have to pay them £10 per month, granted you get free calls but it's paying £10 when you might not make £10.

I am paying £0 per month and getting free calls.

You could also look at http://www.justdialvoip.com/pages/home.asp if you have your own ATA, with some searching for settings you can then get free evening and weekend calls for £1.99 per month.

At the moment and as I have been for the last 7 months, I am happy to go for the completely free option.

www.sipgate.co.uk is good if you want an incomming phone number. I have a PAP2 ATA so have one line (Sipgate) for people to call me, and the other line for me to make outgoing calls, unless I am calling other Sipgate users then it's line 1.

Pay for a USA phone number???

I have mine free from http://phone.ipkall.com/ipphone/ which is pointed to my Sipgate number, so when someone rings my USA number my Sipgate line rings.

As far as I know you can't do that with a standard Vonage number, because they don't give you a proper SIP address to point the IPKall number to. (I assume they do this to stop people from using un-branded ATAs.)

I have Skype, and I bought an 0208 number with them (called SkypeIn) for €30 (£28) for a whole year, €10 (£8) of credit for the outgoing calls (SkypeOut) and you get free voicemail with the phone number.

Have a look at www.skype.com and look at the call prices (Uk landlines are about 0.014p), both locally (as in within the country) and worldwide!!!

EDIT:
Forgot to mention, Skype to Skype calls are FREE!!!!!!!

No thanks, no Skype Hype here, we want proper VoIP services.

Why pay for an incoming number when you can get one free?

Why pay for calls to the UK when you can get them free?

To cancel i had to spend over an hour onto a 0870 number to get a operator...... There service uses low codecs so calls sound rather bad...... And they are just very
stupid....Ask them to do something like disable voicemail and they have a nervous break down

I have just found today that sipdiscount and voipbuster along with 18866 and 1899 are no longer working with SIP so not functioning on my ATA, so have to use the PC!!
