[quote=Trem Two]Brucie is still the best man for the job, as far as i'm concerned.
Yes, he dithers and doddles a lot. Yes, his jokes are woeful. Yes, he interrupts the judges a little too much. So what! That’s all part of the appeal. so easily fail to be. Most of the people i've spoken to see Brucie as half the appeal of the show.
I am on the fence a little here. Although I agree with what you have said above, and some of the rest of your posting, I still feel that Bruce has lost the true comic timing he had in the "old days". I was an avid fan of his shows in the 1970's, and a few times he stood in for Terry Wogan on his live chat shows in the 1980's. I actually went to see one of them at Shepherds Bush Empire where they filmed them. He was spotlessly professional but still had that air of silliness about him where you weren't sure whether he really meant it, or whether it was part of his act. OK I realise the guy is fantastic for his age and that of course his reflexes etc are not going to be as good as they were 20-30 years ago, but that is the point. After once I laughed heartily at Brucie now I feel myself cringeing for him. I used to adore his Generation Game put-downs of the contestants and the demonstrators of the tasks. It was all part of the fun of the show. Whilst I would hate SCD to be overtaken with "Bruce-isms" such as "Awright my lav?" and "Give us a Twirl" etc., I still miss the Bruce of old who was funny and held a show together. Why should such a show as this be "shambolic"? Was that the original intention of the producers? I'm not so sure. They run the risk of some people "getting" or "enjoying" such a concept (such as yourself), or like many other posters here, simply fast forwarding Bruce to get to the dancing. That says a lot. Whilst I would completely disagree with SCD being yet another vehicle for the ubiquitous Ant and Dec

I can not help but picture how they would carry the show for example, and I just know that even they would do it better than poor old Bruce
