South Yorkshire boy! Support for Darren!

Yaaaaaaay. I have to say - I was born and raised in South Yorkshire in a mining town near Barnsley in fact. And I get everything that Darren said. My family and mates have loved our bowling legend forever and think it is a wondrous mixture of hilarity and greatness that he is dancing in lycra and Spandex with Lillia the Dominatrix each week.

And yeah - support for James as another Yorkshire lad - but come on, like Darren said: we all know that South Yorkshire 'uns are much much much harder - Grrrrrrr

Just thought I'd indulge my inner "lass".
Please feel free to add your love for the Barnsley boy cricketer with the lovely hands

Is Darren from Yorkshire? Really? Strange he never mentions it. Mind you: Parky, Fred Truman, Darren - they all so self-effacing and humble about the county of their birth.

It's such a fantastic place and we're so proud to be from there that we just can't keep quiet - what can I say?

The 'fat lad from Barnsley' (his words, not mine - mine are the Gorgeous Goughie!) did so well tonight.
Even my dad phoned to vote (and this has never happened before!)
Excellent work Darren - can't wait for the Passa (does this mean the arms'll be out again - crosses fingers hopefully!)

Yeah he might have an exciting bull-fighter-esque outfit on
And the South Yorkshire boy wins again in the battle of the Lads:

Darren: 8,9,8,8 = 33
James: 6,7,8,7 = 28

while I'm happy Darren beat James, I do think James and Camilla were undermarked by Craig particularly - it deserved a 7 at least from him.

From cricket.co.uk:

Gough defends dance decision
Sunday Oct 30 2005 01:09
Veteran paceman Darren Gough believes his participation in BBC One's Strictly Come Dancing has boosted his chances of making England's squad for the 2007 World Cup.

The 35-year-old opted out of the winter tour of Pakistan and later announced his intention to compete on the game show, putting his international future in jeopardy.

However, Gough told the News of the World: "I'm more hopeful of making the World Cup now and the main reason is all the work I have to do for the programme.

"We had five weeks of work before the show started and I'm fitter now than I've been all summer."

The Essex bowler also insisted he had not snubbed the national team with the intention of taking part in the ballroom dancing show.

He added: "I didn't miss the Pakistan trip because of this programme. I needed a break and wanted to spend more time with my kids.

"Of course, you are taking a huge risk if you do that at my age as the selectors might never call again.

"I've said all along I'd like to make the 2007 World Cup but that's not certain and I know the selectors have to look at other bowlers."

Gough, who retired from Test cricket in 2003, now faces an anxious wait to discover if he will be selected for England's seven-match one-day series against India in March.
