It troubles me that people on here think it's ok to slag somebody off because of their physical appearance, which by and large they can't do much about e.g. the pig jibes at Jade, Adele's small head etc etc.

This is just incredibly infantile, and everybody should have grown out of this type of insult in their teenage years.

There are plenty of reasons for disliking Adele and Jade, and other housemates all have their faults, but let's judge them by their actions, not their appearance.

(Oh and yes I know, here comes a lot of abuse aimed at me!)

I agree.
Though I think we're the minority report Simon.

(you're quite clever: not a Bristol native then? ; ) )

I must say I do agree that I find the personal attacks, especially regarding people's appearance, to be rather nasty and infantile as well.

i agree, it is totally unfair (i know starting a thread about tims gingerness might seem to go against this but i am not insutling him)

i can see why people do though, not only because it is easy for lazy thinkers, but also because most people on tv are close to perfect.

also the housemates dont have anything to them except thier apperance, if they had a personality, maybe people could take the piss out of that.

I think the physical comments about the housemate tend to appear when people cannot find any more to say about a housemate they dislike so they turn petty...

But saying that how many people support Kate because of her attractive physical appearance... I quite like Alex myself, and although I would love to believe my liking him is solely based by his attitude in the house (it is in quite a few aspects) must admit i'm sure am also influenced by the fact that I find him attractive and therefore makes me no better than the other...

I find this comments disqualifie whatever other argument they want to present in the forum.

I have started to recognize members who lacking the intelligence to make a good point resort to insults as a good argument for their causes. I hope I am not the only person dismissing this Sun editorial nonsense.

I expect the forum to be a place of intelligent exchange of ideas and not a Roman Circus where the mob wants no more than blood.

Um looks, I agree Jades had a harder time than most concerning her looks. My husband says she's ugly but I think she's got an interesting face it's actually like a charicature.

Kates rather thin lipped but other wise quite attractive Johnny and Adele both hooked nosed and PJ and Tim not the most attractive of men. Alex I agree has a lovely face but to skinny.

And I'm perfect, lol.

People have been insulting me for my appearance since I was a little boy. (I'm a fat, round goblin with a big nose.)

I can handle it. But then I'm not on national TV.

(It also works the other way, e.g. Britney Spears, Claudia Schiffer, Pamela Anderson and Naomi Campbell are all popularly trumpeted as 'beautiful', and they're not.)

I agree it's very sad when people resort to cheap remarks about other people's appearance. The funny thing is, the more we like someone the more attractive they look and the less we like someone the worse they look. This could account for people making the Jade porcine references or Adelle's head - which I've never noticed as being anything but a standard size! I honestly think if people liked Jade more personality-wise they wouldn't think she was unattractive. I used to think Adelle was quite pretty but now I can't stand the sight of her - due I think to her ugly behaviour.

The Humanity Pipe. It's legal (at least until Microsoft, Disney and Starbucks take over the world and turn us all into Borg.)

I like my people real, not manufactured. Retain the warmth.

Examples of people who are beautiful, but who would never pass the corporate quality test :- Dawn French, Ian Brown, Pete Townshend, Freddie Ljungberg, Liam Neeson, Stevie Nicks, Kathy Burke, Harvey Keitel, John Travolta, etc. etc.

Simple, it's called human nature. Are you so pure that you have never judged anyone by their appearance? Some people take it too far and express it to excess but all of us judge on appearance. It's a natural human instinct.

I think Jade did look 'pig like' when she was shouting out "Am I a minger" .

Surely the point to be raised is to do with the HM's own perception of their looks.

Tim is clearly not happy with his hair - he dyes it for fscksake.

Jade *thinks* she's good looking... even has the cheek to compare herself to Kate, and better than Sophie!
(not that I find K or S amazingly beautiful, just the best of a bad bunch, so to speak)

Adele... Hasn't got a tiny head (anymore... who ate, who ate all the pies...)

Chuck
(who looks like a cross between: Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, and Peter Stringfellow...)

I commend your taste! I saw Kathy Burke in This Years Love and when she smiles, her face is so full of warmth that she just lights up! Liam Neeson - oh yes please!! I find John Travolta attractive because he seems so charming.

Im with BristolSimon on this one.........Im very against it too, the media helped start it, (ie The Sun, Graham Norton), and the public then joined in.........the Media get away with it cause they are untouchable............but I reckon the pple who join in with the slagging are downright 'ugly' themselves, more so in character and enjoy making their nation come across as a bitchy, rude one...........

so there........

.....though its been said Jade would prob laugh once she sees what theyve done........thats she hard and will shrug it off.................but god knows..........she might sit alone and feel hurt by it, thanks to the public giving her the scar

I think shes very pretty! Good skin, good hair.............its just her character that lets her down........

no one is ugly and no one is perfect

I notice there is significantly more such comments this year from viewers and commentators. I think it shows a general disrespect towards the housemates. Labels such as "cow" "pig" "frog" demonstrate a desire to attribute sub-human status to them.

I put the blame squarely on the producers. It is a classical example of abusive power in hierarchies*. By treating the housemates to unexpectedly harsh conditions (the wall and lack of tasks) they lead the way for us to do similar. Furthermore, they treat us the viewer to rip-off charges, and they ignore our wishes to have any say over the way the programme is conducted or to have more honest editing. The resentment felt is redirected at the housemates.

* Psychological experiments in prisons back up this theory, but you wont hear this from the BB "psychologists" because they spout complete BS most of the time!

When will we accept that as a race we are aggressive.
The same people who go abroad each year and "run riot "..or go their local football match just to "ave a go" .

These people are not the brightest sparks on the planet so they resort to mindless "non arguments " by screaming abuse.
ie. GET PIGGY OUT ...displaying the exact same nature JADE does and the sad thing is they dont even "see it" .

The newspapers they read cater for their reader group.

Jade sadly is a product of her upbringing

I wondered how long it would be before we heard from you, you professional trouble maker!

I wonder whether anyone else has managed as many abusive posts about one housemate's appearance as you have!!!

Still your "monkey" remark about Adele rather gave the game away, didn't it?
