Vodafone/T mobile not very competitive on Pay As You Go

Looking around it seems that orange and o2 offer the best pay as you go deals with free texts and calls with minimum top ups respectively. Do you think Vodafone and T-mobile will do something similar to attract users to their pay as you go tarriffs?

I agree with you that Orange and O2 arew the most competition PAYG operators; I think Orange's new free calls/texts offer is really good. T-Mobile have started a to compete more, their MatesRates tarriff available to both new and existing customers is very good 5p/min/text to other T-Mobile users.

Orange may be cheaper but the coverage is nowhere near as good as Vodaphone. Orange maybe is as good as Vodaphone in Cities and Towns but the reception if dire in many parts of the country.

Its very true, if you have a look at the coverage maps at www.gsmworld.com for Vodafone - then any other network see which has the best 35 Coverage at this moment in time.

I like Vodafone, yes I agree they dont have the best deals. But I think Mobile Op's are starting to go down hill just look at 02. What do they expect when they give free SIM Cards out and too many offers? People use them! Then the network starts to grind down, texts take ages etc etc.

Nothing in Life is free, and thats why I stay with Vodafone. They think before jumping. At least with Vodafone the network is stable and had a PAYG sim for around 9 years now. Its always worked and never had a problem.

What about Vodafone's 'Stop The Clock'? Where, off peak, you pay for the first 3 minutes of a call then the next 57 minutes are free? IMO that's quite competitive... They're not brilliantly cheap for text though, granted.

I agree with the coverage comments though, as Orange is quite weak here. However, it does what I want it to do, so I'm happy

On Orange, top up by £10 per month & get free evening calls every day for 5 years.

Pity its only Orange to Orange calls though

If you top-up by £15 per month, you 3000 texts a month to use every evening and weekend to any network as well as your free evening calls. You can also combine this with Prepay Re-pay bonus top-up and receive £2.25 free credit.

Very true - I've got 3000 text and free evening calls running on my Orange prepay myself it beats my contract there to be honest lol.

However, I didn't think you could have bonus topup and 3000 text running at the same time - is that new?

Nope, I don't think so - but you do have to switch to the new Same Rates 24/7 tarriff but this is cheaper than most of the legacy tarriffs.
