i think simon made the right choice but i have a feeling chico will be out next week regardless of who he is up against.
i really doubt the judges would save him 3 times.

Along with several other threads doing the same

He obviously raises enough emotion in people and won't be forgotten easily

Chico makes me cringe, all his act is missing is a full camera angle on his face whilst he stops singing to tell a joke (a la Bobby Davro or Freddie Starr). He shouldn't be there . Simon got it wrong tonight, I think Chicco's family must have shouted the loudest. Surely he must go next week !

Me like Chico!

I find him very entertaining and I'm grinning all the way through his performances. I much prefer happy, smiley Chico to the sullen Conways!

If Chico wants to be a clown he should go and join a circus! What was simon thinking tonight??!?!! If he really wanted to vote off the one who he thought the public would like off, he should have said no i'm not answering, then they would have gone to the real public vote to decide (remember Sharon last week?)!!!!

Chico is summed up by that clip of him that they showed tonight when they were going thru the phone numbers. Sticks his chest out, has a blatantly false grin, holds his chin up too high. He's an arrogant, talentless creep!

Definitely in the correct thread.

Pop Idol COME back again.. this is about singers AND one of the best voices went home this week NO more votes from me sorry JS NONE at all.

GG”

I don't know that having just a good voice is the criteria here surely?

In point of fact Philip may have had a singing voice, but personally I think he would have done well to stick with the Irish Dancing Competitions, he sure as hell doesn't know how to put a tune over.

The show is the X-Factor ergo you can be a brilliant singer, but if the personality is lacking then what's the point? You have to be able to deliver a song convincingly.

Who's going to pay good money to watch a singer just stand on a stage in front of a mic and just sing song, after song, without connecting with the audience? It might work in the early throes of success, but once people cottoned onto the fact, their career would be short lived.

I said a few days ago that I thought Chico was a Ricky Martin wannabe...and as if by magic, he sings Livin La Vida Loca tonight...haha, so predictable!

I always Sky+ the show, and fast-forward at x30 when he comes on. Even that isn't fast enough for me......

[quote=polish1]I think Phillip performed better than Chico tonight. But, do we really need another imitator, which is what he really is.

Hmm, but then again think of the Conway Sisters. I think they are imitating The Corrs and (yes) The Nolan Sisters (as does Louis, ref: his comment about them being the New Nolan Sisters last night!)

Yep, he will be unless he does something absolutely stunning and he is up against one of the others who will be dire enough next week to be in the bottom two (hopefully the Conways or Chenai - the latter irritating me to hell. I wish she would stop singing in that nasal way!)

Ah. I see where you went wrong. What you need is one of those moderator warnings like they have in the appreciation threads. Something like:

*This is a hate thread please try to keep all posts negative.*

Chico can't sing, he can't dance and he looks like one of those waiters you hear of at cheap package holiday hotels who are hanging out for lonely, single, middle-aged Englishwomen to marry them so they can leave all those blue skies and sunshine (must be awful waking up to that every day) to come and live in the cold and rainy UK.

There, is that negative enough for you?

I believe he was a brilliant chap. Very unusual for a dictator to retire you know. I don't think that you hit on one of his better years. ”

I could tell you the reason for my name, but I'd have to kill you afterwards, so probably best to remain a secret. I remember studying Marius and Sulla many years ago for O-level Latin. Marius sounded extremely nasty, lots of slaughtering, etc. I rather like the name Sulla, though, quite aristocratic. I'm a big fan of Ancient Rome, will be watching the new BBC1 series starting this week.

LOL, brilliant stuff, Chico could star in his own soap opera!

My thoughts on Chico are this:

When Sharon chose him I was horrified - I believed that she had stolen an opportunity from someone who could actually sing and that it was an insult to those she had turned down to put him through.

Having said that - rather than being the car crash TV I thought it would be, his performances have been mildly entertaining. I still don't like him and want him to go, but I can understand a bit better why some of the audience seem to like him

Having said that, at the end of the competition, a recording contract is available. Now, whilst I can understand that in a live performance, Chico provides some people with an entertainment factor that is lacking in some of the other acts, what he does not provide is a good enough vocal that I would want to spend money on to listen to at home. I think he has shown that his weak vocal would not stand up to being separated from his live performance, and so would not convert into the level of sales that those with better vocals could achieve

Absolutely right - the guy is a total arse. BUT - he will make people tune in who think he is in some way entertaining. That way the judges may keep him going for some time yet. If the X-Factor is about making someone a pop star then Chico has to go very soon, but if it's about winning ratings I fear he may be there for some time to come - in which case at least I will switch off!

Ahh! But why does everyone like or hate Chico think in such narrow parameters?

There are far more facets to the entertainment business than just the music side.

Just because Chico hasn't strong vocal ability doesn't mean that he wouldn't earn a good living being exactly what he is, an entertainer.

Looking at the limited life span of the bulk of 'singers with good voices' (I do realise that there are notable exceptions) when it comes to life after winning one of these shows, it may well be that his career will go in a direction that could be longer lasting than the eventual winner who will probably have couple of hit records an album and then oblivion.

But that's just what I'm saying. Chico, much as I hate to admit it, will probably have a longer career than most there (albeit (hopefully ) fairly short) - he will be appearing as the novelty act on entertainment shows long after we have forgotten the name of the winner.

However, that is not what this particular competition is about - the prize in this one is a recording contract, so my point is that whilst the judges are happy to let the 'entertainer' stay for a few weeks to liven up the show, no way will they let it continue in definitely.

I was not making a comment on the entertainment business in general, just on this particular competition
