This is just like the best part lol I always tape it and its a great place to get moves and ideas for my own dances lol and I love to watch it again and again I also love it when one couple dance when the singers are singing. When Darren and Lillia danced the Rumba to Westlife I nearly cried it was just so beautiful and now Westlifes is my new favourite song. I think Darren B and Lillia are just AMAZING proffesional dancers

The samba this week was sizzling. Fantastic to see Brendan dancing with Karen as B doesn't have a pro partner and K's retired.

Where do they find the time to rehearse the dances for the professionals' set?
Or are they all so experienced that one of them can just write down a few notes, email it all around and then get together for 30mins before the live show for a once off run through, and then nail it perfectly on the night?
I don't know where they get the time, or energy!
Fancy asking them for me, Claudia?

I wonder who choreographs the dances? I wonder if there's disagreements if there are similiar moves and because some of the dancers don't usually dance how do they decide on the moves

I still think the professionals are terrible when dancing without the celebs.

Of course, technically they're good; but everything seems forced, and it feels like they're just showing off their technical ability, without enjoyment. I think it's the worse part of the show. (In fact, the whole results show is barely worth watching.)

I was wondering that. It went through my mind when I was watching it the other day. There are so many professionals that someone would need to be in charge.. maybe they are taking it in turns.
I also wondered about the competition between the professional couples... whether there was a desire to "out-dance" each other... be the most flashiest etc..
Of course... in my perfect little world in my head they all get on marvellously and just come together for a couple of hours and have no arguments.. but I can't imagine it being like that in teh real world.

Who do you guys think would be the leader(s) if they are left to sort it out as a mass professional team?

Ooh I don't know? Good question. I was so keen to see the samba on saturday because I want to learn how to do it. It was great fun to watch but I preferred the Paso last week.

I don't think it is forced and love seeing them let loose. I'd kinda like to think that they do try to outdo each other a bit - perhaps Len and the judges have some input in the choreography or the professionals take it in turns. I know Karen coaches professionals - perhaps she has some input.

Maybe they use a neutral like sammy stopford or Donny or one of the many Latin Coaches teaching in London Area and who they all go to for coaching all though they are professional in their own right those who compete still go for lessons - in fact Im gonna ask a few friends and find out

There is most certainly rivalry amongst them there has to be - Darren and Lilia are in Tussle with Matthew Cutler who with his new partner beat them in the British Open in May so imagine they will be all out to beat them next time

i couldn't disagree more! you think brendan looks terrible not having to dance with fiona?? i thought his samba with karen was great, it's like they can finally kick off properly and do things at the pace they're meant to.

Who or what means for them to go at that pace?

My suspicion is dance competition has evolved (in the grip of some feedback loop) so that that kind of forced pace is now the norm, but it reduces the expressiveness of the dances and IMO looks terrible.

There's now another thread, Is that really dancing?, in which someone (Kookycelt) "nearly fell off the sofa laughing when the professionals came on together."

They've released the book so why don't they do a DVD for Xmas. They could demonstrate all of the dances and then break them down and demonstrate the basic steps....... I'd definately put this top of my Xmas list

Oooh a treat tonight: Matthew Cutler will be on ITT to discuss the Weekly Professional Show dance, perhaps our curiosity about the ins-and-outs will be satisfied, and I'm so thrilled the show is using these great professionals after their elimination!

Yes, I did think it a bit unfair that Andrew and Matthew's lower SCD profile meant they were less frequent guests on ITT than Brendan.

Lots more of them to balance things, please!!!

The waltz will be hard to compare to Anton and Erins likewise Samba of Lillias the pro dances are meant to show this comparison

How can you say that???? The professionals are sheer genius!! This show is obviously not for you, because the professionals MAKE the show...

It was heartening that Claudia asked about who choreographs the dances, when they practice, if egos get in the way.

Does anybody have any ideas about what the show dance might be tomorrow? I can't remember what dances they expect the celebrities to do next week based on previous series...

I can't wait till we're down to each couple doing TWO dances! And I'm waiting in very eager anticipation for the Cuban Salsa (one of the new additions) - that would be fantastic as a show dance

I'd say they'll do two of the new dances next weekend as they have run out now!

Wouldn't it be funny if they swapped some of the professional couples round and made them dance together?

Like:

Matthew and Erin
Darren and Karen (coz they rhyme!)
Andrew and Izabella
Ian and Lilia (for comedy height difference)
Brendan and Camilla (to see what they used to be like)
Tony and Hana
