I LOVE this show even though I've never "danced" in my life!
Are any of my fellow forum members dancers or merely spectators like myself?

Spectator. Can't dance to anything, never have and never ever will. Totally rhythmless with 2 left feet!

There's no stopping me when I'm drunk.

(If anyone has seen the episode of Seinfeld when Elaine dances, well that's pretty much me.)

I've never tried any ballroom dancing though watching this it does make me feel like giving it a try. Especially when you look at the legs on those girls!

I used to attend Tap Dancing Lessons, Ballroom Dancing and I even attempted Line Dancing, now there was a good thing, I can dance to most music, except House, Garage and Rap, can't quite get the sense of that, but, who knows, maybe in the next 43 years......

Good Question Posy.

I can dance. I used to be a Latin American and Ballroom dancer and was trained up to Amateur level having completed all the grades and tests, however, I am sorry to say that unfortunately I was not able to carry on (due to huge upheaval) and I deeply regret it.

I watch the shows with longing and would give anything to be in a position to be led around the dancefloor by one of the Professional Males!!! It's like riding a bike, you never forget, just get a bit rusty. I'm not as supple as I used to be but I bet I could give some of the celebs a run for their money!!! Perhaps that's why I'm so critical of some and less critical of others.

I used to do Ceroc many years ago, but I'm not sure if that counts. It was great fun though!

I can dance wonderfully in my head (invariably wearing something sparkly and with Anton... )

Unfortunately, in real life I don't know my left from my right, and with the addition of my two left feet I think I'd make a terrible dance partner! I have a sense of rhythm, but it's more suited to clubbing than ballrooms!

I always did lots of dancing as a teenager - ballet, tap, contemporary - that sort of thing. An overly large bust put a stop to my plans of carrying on to study seriously though.

I'd always wanted to dance with a partner, but never tried it until earlier this year. I go to Ceroc a few nights a week, and sometimes a Lindy Hop class, and the ocassional Swing class. I know Ceroc is the poor cousin, but it is loads of fun, and it's great for someone without a partner.

I desperately want to try Ballroom or Latin, but I can't find anywhere that will teach someone who wants to come without a partner.

never danced properly - would absolutely love to learn though - and have been on at mr plum for years to go with me so we could have lessons - but i have not succeeded yet, he pretends not to like SCD, but i catch him every now and again sneaking little glances at it, and i've noticed that this usually happens when patsy is on hhhmmmm

Hey, another cerocer!! (although I haven't been for years - it's too scary to go to a new class on my own!)

I think the lack of a partner is a big drawback to Latin/Ballroom. We need more men!

Just started ballroom and Latin classes a month ago, but am not making very much progress. Like Kelpy, however, I'm an excellent dancer in my head- and I spend a lot of time there, bopping around.

I always wanted to do some sort of dancing when I was little, but my mum danced Highland for 20 years and hated it, so she wouldn't let me.

I do have a vagueish sense of rythmn, but I'm really too self-concious for thst sort of thing.

That sounds spookily familiar
Mr Mindy maintains he can dance although I differ - I don't think that finally getting onto the dance floor at the end of the night for 'dance' to 'The Music Man' really qualifies!
He also dosen't watch - especially ITT but was very sulky the only time I watched it before he came home

I know "proper" dancers sniff at Ceroc, but it is a lot of fun, and it is easier for men to pick up than some of the more formal styles. Which means more men, and more people to dance with. Plus there are people there who have done other styles, so it's possible to vary it a bit with the right partner.

I took tap lessons when I was very 'ickle and had some gorgeous red tap shoes - but that stopped when I was about 7.

Haven't had any lessons since in any formal dancing but am going to my first salsa class tomorrow and after my exams are over at Christmas, I'm going to try to learn to Samba so I can go to Rio for the Carnaval in February

i would love to be able to do ballroom/latin dancing, but doubt i would be able to make any progress at all! like a lot of you though, i can dance wonderfully in my head and score perfect 10s every time, before winning the world championships! well, we all need dreams don't we?!

Yep, I can dance. I even danced in West Side Story on stage with an amateur theatre company.
I can Waltz, love waltzing. Would love to learn more ballroom dancing but don't have a partner.
And when I go clubbing (hardly ever these days) I'm on the dance floor all night.

Im a dancer too, have been doing Ballroom & Latin for roughly 22 years, had a long gap of about 8 years and now back into it again. I have gone through all the grades etc but no longer compete due to health problems.

Yes I can dance. At least I hope I can Been dancing all my life. Mum is a dance teacher and owns a large dance & performing arts Academy. I competed until I was 16 then I qualified professionally at 17. Now I've been teaching, choreographing and dancing professionally (cabaret/theatre) for 10 years.

And I think it's wonderful that a show like this can make so many people love dancing.

I have to say if i ever properly tried ballroom or latin dancing i think i would be brilliant . I've done some of Lens masterclasses (on t'internet) and catch on really quick considering my fat thighs! I just haven't got a partner so I am somewhat limited.

But having watched SCD for a while I find myself thinking what the judges say when judging the dances

I was a professional dancer, but had to stop due to a back injury. Was dropped from a height by a male partner

Never did ballroom though, was mostly involved in shows.
