Hey Guys, How about this??

Why don't all the dedicated SCD and ITT fans get together, hire a ballroom and have our own dance????

What a brill night that would be.

The dancers among us could take the non dancers and give them a whirl round the floor.

We could invite the celebs, professionals, (and the judges) to join in!!

Claudia could be our special guest and we'd have a ball.

That way it would give those of us with no partners the chance to rekindle our memories of the fake tan, rhinestones and bursting lungs at the end of a 5 dance!!!!

What do you think???

FABULOUS idea!! Will there be enough men to go round though? Oh dear, I might just have to kidnap Anton and keep him for myself all night long........

I'm serious Gillypand.

I'm sure there are plenty of men young and old who would love a dance night.

This way we'd be helping to promote Ballroom & Latin as some of our friends in the forum state that they'd love to try it.
They could come along, get some tuition from the dancers among us and not be frightened of being laughed at.

I think this could be the way forward for the revival of Ballroom and Latin (on the back of SCD) of course!!

Lets make history and do it!!!

you know this would be a very good idea for Children in Need, if you could organise it in time. That way I suspect celebrities would be interested.

Maybe we could do this County by County, Im in Stockport persoanlly ,we have a cracking sized Town Hall ballroom and it could certainly hold a few hundred. Im interested in doing this if anyone else from my area could/would give me a hand

Thanks TanyaTango.

I'm deadly serious as well.

I come from the South in the Southampton Region and I'd be happy to try and coordinate something down this way.

Anyone out there who would be willing to help?????

If we get enough interest we could coordinate with each other and perhaps add to the Children in Need Pot?

Come on all of you who want a go!!! Talk to us!!!!

Superfan, I am serious too! It's a brilliant idea - it was wishful thinking on my part to kidnap Anton for myself....sigh....

I'm in Gloucestershire - count me in! I've never tried ballroom dancing, I do tap dancing, but I'd love the chance to try.

Great Gillypand.

Would you be prepared to take a lead and try and find a venue if we can get it off the ground???

We can all advertise locally (if permitted) and run it by the BBC to see if it's allowed.

i'm up in scotland - if i can help in any way - then i would really like to - this is an absolutely brilliant idea, although i'm not sure if there is any suitable venues here, although i'm sure there must be - maybe others from here may know
something to look into for sure

For Gillypand.

Sorry Gillypand, I meant find a venue for your area??? Not the whole thing. We'd need to coordinate it region by region but it shouldn't be too hard especially if it's for charity and we can get enough interest.

Hi Stepanieplum

Where are you in Scotland?? I know that the Ritz ballroom in Eglinton Toll was still standing in Glasgow a few years ago and this is where I used to dance competitively.

Most towns will have a ballroom or a hall where dances can be held.

Hope to speak to you about this again!!

Hi Superfan. I can't immediately think of a venue, but I love organising, so I would give it a good go! Can we run it past the Beeb and see what they say?

Have we got time to do something for Children in Need? I think it's only 3 weeks away. I wouldn't like to do it half-cocked just to rush it out. Personally, I'd prefer to wait slightly longer and do it properly, or would it then go off the boil?

hi superfan - i'm in falkirk, not familiar with the one in glasgow at all, but falkirk has a really nice town hall, not a ballroom as such, but certainly a hall which will hold a couple of hundred people easily (as i remember from the proclaimers concert ) they have an extensive entertainnment programme, but could be a flier if the dates would suit??????

Hi Gillypand

I'll get on to the Beeb straight away and see what they say. I think 3 weeks would be long enough if we can all secure venues. If push comes to shove we could do it in the town centres!!!!! What a laugh that would be. I agree though that it needs some planning and if we can't do it on the night then we could do it towards the end of SCD as that might be a fitting end to the show from their fans.

I'll get back to you when I hear anything from the BEEB

Personally, I would prefer it to be towards the end of the series. I'm going to be away from 5-11 November, and I'm deadly serious about helping to organise something. I'm also a perfectionist when I agree to do something, so this would give me more time to do it properly.

Perhaps we could invite the dancers (and celebs) who have been eliminated to our events. By the end of the series there'll also be more to go round!

I look forward to hearing from you after you've spoken to the Beeb!

Hi Gillypand

E Mail has gone to the BBC SCD Production Team so I'll let you know as soon as I get a reply.

I'm of the same opinion really that the end of the series would be a good time to do it and your idea about inviting the eliminated dancers is brill.

Keep in touch.

Sounds like a great Children In Need fundraiser. All the best of luck for your efforts. If there's something in the West of Scotland I might take my two left feet to it

Hi Russellelly

Why dont' you ask around your friends and family and spread the word then come back to me and if we can get this off the ground we may be able to find someone on the forum from the West Coast to coordinate it.

it wud be brilliant, a sort of convention strictly come dancing style, i think doing in in one area wud be a better idea tho cos then all the celebs could go to the same one and there wud be enough celebs to go round lol. if ppl were really dedicated then they wud definatly go! i mean look at how many ppl travel to other countries (let alone up and our country) for conventions!

Hi everyone

Still waiting to hear from the BBC. I haven't forgotten you and I'll be back when we have news.

Mind you, even if it's a no goer, there are other ways we can do our bit and plans are already afoot.

Watch this space!!!
