I was also thinking exactly the same thing.
No reason it shouldn't work. Just need to tweak your connection settings to point it to the vodaphone live page. Can't see it being a problem ..... I'm giving it a try this weekend I reckon.

I've been trying with my unlocked 7600 and a Vodafone PAYG sim and have had no luck so far as I can't get the Vodafone live settings to work. Hopefully someone else would like to try.

I bought a sim today from the Vodafone store for £5. I told them on what I was planning to do and the guyprinted out a "how to" for the GPRS settings for me. However, these didnt work. I then tried using the SMS sent settings from both the Nokia site and also the vodafone site. Both of these didnt work. I then phoned Voda customer services and the lady told me THEY have to activate your sim to be able to use the vodafole live service and that it could take upto 48hours for my sim card to be enabled. I'll post if it starts working over the next couple of days. (I dont even use my 7600 anymore I just bought this SIM to be able to use the TV service till jan! )

OK So now I have access to vodafone live but I still cant find how to get the tv channels working. There is no option in the "entertainment" section (where it says it should be on the vf website)
