What is Simon up to?
Caramel

I read somewhere that Chico has released a record in the past, it didn't get anywhere though.

I noticed something odd on X-Factor last Saturday (29th Oct). Somon Cowell said to Chico, in his summing up, "when I met you six months ago...."

Now, either, he made an error, in that he meant to say six weeks ago, or Mr Cowell has met Chico before and there is something fishy about his dislike of Chico on one hand, and his decision on Saturday to keep him in the show.

It was.

To be honest I just automatically presumed "six months" was the time from the initial audition to now.

I believe the initial auditions were around July. So he was about 2 or 3 months out.

I thought auditions were about 6 months ago. Could be wrong though.

It must have been from the early auditions stages - perhaps one of the forum members that went through auditions can clarify.

And he did say it to JS not Chico.

I stand corrected, it was JS; however Simon's rationale for keeping Chico instead of Phillip was still flawed.

The 'six month' comment is still weird though. How could it refer to early auditions? Surely if they had already been whittled down before the auditions that were televised, the vast majority of acts wouldn't even have been given permission to enter the building!

I wouldn't be suprised if JS had tried to get a record deal with Simon about 6 months ago by juts knocking on his door (so to speak), but Simon told them to go through the X Factor channel instead of straight to him. That way Simon would get an idea of the public's repsonse to them.

Anyone else think this theory could be right?

He didn't say "when he met them six months ago",...it sounded a lot more initmate than that....

..He actually said "when he sat down with those guys six months ago".

That's a fair bit cosier and more initmate than just briefly saying hello in passing in a corridor.

Thats what he said. Might have been a slip of the tongue but it all adds to a lovely conspiracy.

Simon didn't make an error as the audition rounds were held between April and June. Boot Camp came after that and finished just before the series started broadcasting.
