the only reason why she didnt cry is because she knows shes being slated for it.

May I respectfully suggest that she's resorted to the sympathy vote because she knows she can't cut it as a live vocalist? Not even the Cheeky Girls hit that many bum notes.

As long as I don't have to hear Chenai singing Hero again, I'll be more than happy. The thing that REALLY annoyed me is she knew she'd hit a couple of bum notes (she moved her hand up to her chest on a particularly bad one), but when Simon pointed it out she got all defensive. I'd have had a lot more respect for her if she'd have admitted it.

I actually really liked her in the early heats, I thought she was promising. But the two live performances I've seen have been awful - I presume she just hasn't got the bottle.

She absolutely murdered that song. She wasn't brave to sing it, she was delusional. A Cheeky Girls song she just might manage!

.”

as did nicholas and shayne . Do you not think thats maybe due to the fact that it was their "lovely" mentor louis walsh who told them to do that

Very perceptive comment from ICGenie but a little cruel. I thought she was more than promising before the live shows started, In fact I thought she was brilliant. And young. And full of passion. But right now she is a bag of nerves. But where the hell does that leave us - are we going to award THE X FACTOR to an act that has been plodding away as a backing singer for 20 years just because they can produce a nerveless/competent live vocal each week.

As opposed to a bag of nerves who's diction is quite bad during singing.

I don't have a favourite but I really don't think Chenai has what it takes, she has to toughen up, she'll get eaten alive

I see your point. But part of being a pop star/singer/performer is that you have to be able to cut it in front of a live audience. If you can't hold your nerve and do that, you're not good enough. I should know because I'm not good enough either (karaoke, no problem, in front of the production pre-TV judges, fall to pieces). It's not just an age / experience thing. I remember in the first Pop Idol there was a 16 year old black girl (can't remember her name) who was amazing. She didn't seem to have any nerve problems, and she was younger than Chenai.

Let me get this right melanie34.......If you had owned a major record label in the early eighties and Prince and Madonna both walk through the door and blow you away.......you would reject them both for "poor diction". And please don't say I am comparing Chenai with anybody in that league - I am not.

Zoe Birkett. No she didn't have nerve problems and she was an excellent singer. Added to that she took criticisms on the chin and learnt from it.

She had a personality to match too, now that I would call the X Factor

You have a VERY GOOD memory! Whatever happened to her I wonder, I thought she was a sure fire winner...

The difference is she doesn't blow me away, if she did I don't think I could get past not being able to tell what she is singing. But supposing she did blow me away then if she were to go anywhere she needs to sort out her tears, her sympathy pleas, her diction, and listen to criticism without jumping down their throats.

I can see your point but both Prince and Madonna didn't get where they are on sympathy, from what I remember Madonna admitted to sleeping her way to get where she was. I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure that was the story.

Not the morally right way to do it IMO but she's a tough cookie and she may not be where she is now if she hadn't, but she has something because she's still there now.

The point being if you don't have it in the first place there's no point using other factors to win people over because it won't keep you up there very long

I'm not sure I'll have a look and see if I can find anything on the web about her, I know she had a single out but anything else I don't know.

I think she decided to keep away from the limelight for a while and concentrate on growing up a bit, not sure though it might just have been a story.

I'll have a look though and get back to you

This is an odd thing to say. Firstly, i dont think that she is turning on anything. I think some people in life like Rowetta are always on the verge of tears and i think she is that kind of person. If she is worried for her bros, why not? if she doesnt want them growing up in a hostile environment or in a place where there is no prospects for them, why not speak up about it? The other stuff like the vt footage of her talking(which no doubt required a prompt) and the emotive music, is out of her hands. X Factor is generally quite a corny show.

Do you mean Zoe Birkett?

She was very confident until they gave her a Whitney song in the last four. Then she blew it. I think because she was wary of the comparisons which, of course, she got unfavourably.

Zoe Birkett was brilliant.

She had a single out, 'Treat Me Like A Lady' which went top 20. Nothing much after that.

She was engaged to Mark (of Sam and Mark) from Pop Idol 2. I don't know if that's still on or not.

Hmm, don't think it was Zoe I was thinking of. Zoe was the one with blonde dreadlocks wasn't she? Not her. I can't even remember if I'm in the right series now...

Totally agree about Roxanne. I was gutted when she was voted off pop idol. Did she ever appear on Coronation Street?

And does anybody know anything about her album?
