Pete Waterman.........
I was sorry to read the Teletext report today, re:- Pete Waterman who was all set to be a judge on XF1 but due to the sad news of his son's illness ,which led to his untimely death earlier this year,[my sincere condolences to Pete & his family.]
It has left me wondering who would you prefer to see as a judge instead of Louis Walsh. I know for one I would like to see Pete or Nicki Chapman. I think another woman would be good for the show and perhaps have a male presenter.Someone who I hadn't thought of in one of my earlier threads, is Vernon Kay to present. |

Pete or indeed that Nasty Nigel (I think that was his name.. been so long) would be alright, but I never liked Nicki Chapman much. The three that are there are alright with me, despite me occasionally getting annoyed with Louis and Sharon.

Personally, I would have preferred Pete Waterman...
gone right off Louis Walsh.... since the Trevor James tripe |

My Producer Mark ran into Pete last night at Capitol Radio. Pete was talking to Pat Sharp about the release next week of a compilation album called 'The best of Stock, Aitken and Waterman'. Mark told me that Pete was a nice guy and that he got his phone number. I must say I liked Pete on 'Pop Idol' and think that he should have been asked to do 'The X Factor' instead of Louis Walsh. However, one of the main guys behind 'The X Factor' Ashley Tabor (he used to be a Tea Boy at Capitol when Mark was producing all their jingles a while back), has a management company specifically set up to manage Louis' acts from last series (they look after G4) and now Sharon's for this series. So as a result of that (Ashley also co-wrote the 'X Factor' theme), Louis' place is set in stone unfortunately.

Louis won't be replaced. It's Simon who's leaving the programme. Sharon might come back next year.

I've heard on the internal grapevine that it'll be Pop Idol 3 next year as they want to give the X Factor a break for a while.

Do you think X has run its course? I would have thought that SC may have pitched it to Fox in America, but it doesn't look like they're picking it up for an American version of X-Factor. |

Australia dumped X factor after one show but kept Pop Idol.. Simon Fuller owns Pop idol SC was just a judge in the end as he sold out his shares,, mind you Simon Fuller no longer owns 19 management and is only on the board for another (just) over 4 years. How do i know so much,, been at this a long time.
Another Pop Idol, that will depend on the new people that own the rights to it. Nasty Nigel was part of Pop Idol .. he was actually the World Idol results in the front know, I know cos I was there. If you read about him in respect to American Idol where Constantine went out you will find he has a lot of skeletons in his closet.. his son being one of them... THIS is a business at the end of the day.. music is just a tiny speck part of it I'm afraid, it is about making millions for everyone other than the acts. Pete Waterman is a wonderful guy, one I respect very much and is the Manager of the wonderful Duel. You will find there banner on my x site if you want to take a look at who they are just press it... NOT for all of you as it will not be to your taste but he found them busking.. one year later they had a number one album that topped the charts for 3 weeks, and are still working hard, in fact they are touring in Hong Kong. I also heard that Pete would not work with Louis how true that was I have no idea. NO matter what you think.. Westlife hit number one this week, and the singles sales shot up for the first time in months, it was thier biggest selling single since Queen of My Heart, You raise me Up sold 92,228 in its first week. NOT bad when we can have a number one that sells less than 10,000... So Louis has made successful bands, Boyzone were, Girls Aloud (YUK) are.. so who would I prefer.. smutty Sharon to leave and Pete to take her place.. where was she constructive last week to Shayne.. wonder why she did not just say want you in my knickers lad!!! |

Cotton Simon Fuller NO longer owns the shows, he sold the Pop Idol and 19 out earlier this year, he is still on the board and will be for just over 5 years but not sure it will be down to him to be honest... HE is still suing Simon Cowell to my knowledge as well.

I think Dr Fox should replace Louis , he used to crack me up ,
also they should put on a celebrity judge each week like A.idol , to even it out a bit! |

No. The original choices for judges were Pete Waterman and Mel B. Simon changed his mind about Mel (though he thought she was an ideal person to judge on having the X factor as a member of a band who could hold a tune but was not a great singer yet still had that certain something that achieved stardom) because he thought Sharon would be a meaner judge. Pete pulled out late in the day for the reasons mentioned and Lame Louis was brought in |

If you had to decide between Louis Walsh and Richard Park, which one would you choose?
I need to think about it, as they are both very irritating to me. |

He did but Simon Fuller/Nigel Lythgoe made sure that while Simon was contracted to AI he couldn't get X-F off the ground in America so there isn't likely to an American X-F for a couple of years yet. This is one of the reasons why the upper age limit on AI was raised (from 24 to 30) for the last series letting in contestants like Bo Bice and Constantine Maroullis. The contract is such that the x factor can't even be mentioned during the AI and any contestant that the judges felt had any special quality had to be referred to as having the "it" factor. |

He's nasty, cruel, tries too hard to be Simon Cowell and he's self-interested (why on earth else would he promote one of the least talented contestants ever seen in the finals of a talent show to victory over and above some far more talented people other than because he'd been told to?) but he's not the annoying wasp that Louis is. |

Pop Idol has new owners and they are a huge company so I doubt you will see SC over in the States for several years to be honest. It was interesting when Aussie dumped it and stuck with Pop Idol as well.. it is also interesting that Fuller bought into films and now seems Cowell is about to do the same with Shayne as the star... I don't think that Simon would entertain R.P. I agree re having Carrie & David Grant for vocal coaches. Didn't they do PI1.I thought I could remember Carrie? Their names have cropped up in earlier threads. |
