As long as you have some credit, you will get a number providing they have added your area code yet, you could change you city / postcode to an area they may cover, or possibly wait until they can get setup in that area.

I added my credit a few months back when it was a £1 set-up and managed to get a number with 99p credit left.

They just state your account needs to be in credit, and that they offer incoming numbers for several countries, so maybe it's only major cities at the moment as they mention London, and I have a Birmingham number.

If you enter 0121 660 into http://www.magsys.co.uk/telecom/codelook.asp you will see that that is indeed a Connect Telecom UK the people behind VoIP Cheap, 18866, 1899 etc in the UK.

My number doesnt seem to work?!
I credited £5 to my account and got a number, it even displays that number when I call out from this service.

However when I call the incoming number I get silence?

Any pointers?

Exactly the same happening here! Does it take a certain amount of time to be activated? If I call it from my mobile I get a network busy tone, and if I call it from my ntl landline I get several seconds of 'clicks', followed by a network busy tone.

Any ideas, anyone?

I have used the feedback form on the voipcheap site to raise the issue with them.

Shame it doesn't work, I plan to use this as a replacement to skype.

Working here too, as is my VoIP Buster number again too.

Only just recently started working again, as I managed to leave work early this morning so was back home for around 03:00, and had been trying every now and then.

So, it will come as no surprise to find that they are both run by exactly the same company then:

Does anyone know if they offer incoming on the sipdiscount product?

I've emailed support, but no answer back yet.

Also, anyone know if it is possible to see which area codes Connect Telecom UK have ?

Cheers, Des.

Not at the moment they don't, but they plan to do so in the future.

There was a little wait with their other service VoIP Buster, before they gave numbers away for a short while, again there was a slightly longer wait with VoIP Cheap, I'm sure they will get around to it soon.

Other than checking each number range (ie 0121 660 ) with http://www.magsys.co.uk/telecom/codelook.asp or in the BT phone book, I don't think there is another way.

Voipcheap software updated itself today, and I cannot seem to find a changelog on their web site.

Anybody notice any differences?

I'm new to VoIP - tempted to dive in by VoIPCheap's free calls to landlines. All works fine, and I finally got a VoIP In number after trying for a couple of days.

Now this VoIP In number is an 0560 one, which raises a couple of questions ..
1) Is this my own number - will I be able to take it with me if I move to say another VoIP service (e.g. if - or more likely when - VoIPCheap start charging) ?
2) How much does it cost for others to call the number, whether from a landline, mobile, VoIP or other 0560 number ?

iv never heard of the code 0560 voipcheap gave me 01173 which is the local code for bristol where i live.

At the moment, it doesn't seem possible to transfer numbers from one service to another.

0560 was they original range of numbers released by OFCOM for use with VoIP services, the 0560 number you have will be treated the same as any 01 or 02 number, so if the person calling you gets free evening and weekend calls the 0560 number will be included, if they pay 5.5p for an hour to call 01 and 02 numbers, the 0560 number will cost the same.

Many VoIP providers offer the original range of 0560 numbers, some offer for a charge a standard 01 or 02 number, VoIP Cheap will supply for free an 01 or 02 number if the company they use in the UK has capacity at an 'exchange'.

Sadly not all companies can be bothered to enable 0560 range numbers. And those who do can charge what they want. But they are supposed to be charged at the same amount as landlines.
BexTech

Yeah, in some areas NTL have decided they can't be bothered to enable calling 056 numbers, Orange mobile customers can also have issues calling 056 numbers.

This is the problem with not having a BT or Kingston Communications phone line as only they are forced to allow you to call any number, not charge for free phone access and to allow use of indirect suppliers.

Since the update you just get a missed call box which stays on the scrren till you click ok

I am using sipgate and have found that the voicemail does not work when I am on the phone. Callers get a busy tone or worse still number out of use.

I have tried both with X-Lite and with my Sipura 2000 ATA with the same result. Sipgate support have so far not come up with a solution.

Is anyone else having the same problem?

Am also using sipdiscount but this doesn't seem to have voicemail.
