Im irish and Faggot does not mean homosexual in the song at all.It just means you fool and edgit.People always want to find something wrong and presume they are slagging off Homosexuals. The song is about a Relationship.People who think they are slagging off gays are just SAD,F****** people.Get a life.

Tonight, Monday 19th December, on BBC Three at 9pm:

"The Story of... Fairytale Of New York".... "Uncovering the stories behind famous songs. For the first time in 18 years, all eight members of the Pogues return to the studio where their biggest hit and the nation's favourite Christmas song was recorded. Producer Steve Lillywhite strips Fairytale down to the basics and video director Peter Dougherty reveals the tricks behind the making of the video - including how a cameo from Hollywood star Matt Dillon stopped the Pogues from almost being arrested."
Details from Digiguide.

Something like that could really have happened to Shane.
"Wouldn't see another one" is probabally a line about his teeth, seeing as there probabally won't be any left by next year.

Yep - Shane's mouth is unusally closed in the picture accompanying his Big Issue interview...

yes this is a great song.............. it is a pity that the industry has to be pc on the lyrics........ it is a shame, the song should be played and sung in it's original words........

and i hope it is released that way........... a welcome no 1 ... change from westlife and slade..... ect...

True, so there needs to be more publicity about the fact that the proceeds go to a children's charity and the Justice For Kirsty campaign, so people know it's worth buying even if they already have it.

OMG! This was awful... Shane sounded better than Katie - it sounded like she was struggling with the song!

Anyone agree?

It's on now. Good effort, but not on a par with Kirsty .

I think the fact that Shane appears to be ignoring Katie doesn't help - she's only young mate, give her a break.

No lyric change. I dont see why they would as none of the words are used in any terrible context. Its just to people having a go at each other. I think Katie done a pretty good job with it too.

Yes definitely. Katie's voice s just too soft for this song. Their voices just don't go together. I think Shane was falling about when they were dancing!

I'm glad they didn't change the lyrics. Hooray for faggots!

I know. it was a shame but I think it took all of Shane's concentraction just to stand & sing by the looks of it.
