Not only because the majority of them are betteer IMO but if you think about it, we are at the stage now where the first live shows began last year, but they have already performed 3 times. By next week, whoever comes 9th will have had just as much exposure as voices with soul. Also, the shows are a lot longer this year so they have a longer time to sing, as well as all the different micro-shows on ITV2, and the viewing figures being a few million higher than last year! I think anyone that makes the top 7 will have pretty good careers in show business afterwards, Do you agree?

I don't agree, no. Surely it isn't about the amount of exposure they get here, but actually how good they are and how many people support them.

4Tune for one have had more exposure on TV than most and went out early on....doesn't mean they are going to get more success.

If they do, I'll eat my crown.

No. They will be forgotten about this time next year as none of them are especially talented, except Brenda, Maria and Journey South. I anticipate Shayne will win but he won't last either - none of these people ever sustain a career. Will Young, Lemar and G4 are the only people I can see who have had successful careers on the back of a reality TV show.

Steady on with G4. They've been around under a year and this naffly titled second album will be a great test.

I disagree. Voting/viewing figures do not equal record sales, just look at Steve Brookstein as an example.

Exposure does also not mean record sales. Look at most of the Spice Girls - going from the biggest girlband to solo deals with massive exposure, to hardly any of them being remembered today.

The question is whether or not these extra viewers are watching because they want to watch those specific singers and will go on to buy their CDs, or if they are watching because it's a bit of a laugh for a Saturday night?

Frankly if I'm still watching for another 3 weeks I'll be surprised. I am finding it difficult to get into this year. Will I be thrown off the forum if I say I'm finding it all a bit boring? I don't think any of the acts has been exactly compelling viewing from the start. 3 weeks into the live shows maybe they should be dismissing 2 acts a week
On what they've shown so far I'd be surprised if anyone remembers ANY of them a week after it's all finished.

I don't agree at all. I don't think any stars will be born as a result of the show....people aren't interested in the contestants when they are no longer on TV and i don't believe any of them have enough 'X Factor' to sustain a whole career.

John Tickle hasn't done too badly either, although I don't know if he's still presenting.

I think the top 3 have a chance (depending on the first few singles/debut album), anyone outside the top 3 will have no chance.

I think it will depend on how original they are as artists. If you compare Gareth Gates with Will Young, Will's brought something different to the music industry (spesh with his new single - which i think is fabulous!) wheras Gareth took a Westlife-esque style, which people have seen time and time again. The same can be said of Girls Aloud, they have a much more unique sound than most of the girlbands around at the mo (not that there are many girlbands left anymore).

You mean the cut-price Sugababes - 5 for the price of 3

Girls aloud were lucky in that they got some really good pop songs given to them, at the end of the day that is what really matters.

Look at Rachel Stevens - Anyone could have had hits with Some Girls and Sweet Dreams My Lax, but she was given them and carried on having hits, despite not having a particluarly interesting persona or voice (though getting her babs out for Loaded every month probably didn't hurt)

If only she could do it with a paper bag over her head. OK from the neck down if you know what I mean
