Some of us prefer not to know which songs the acts are going to perform before watching the show on Saturday night. Could I ask you, please, if you are starting a thread specifically on this subject, to make it clear in the thread title so that people like me can avoid reading? Thanks. Also, would you mind using spoiler tags if you are going to refer to these songs in other threads? I would be very grateful. I realize that not everyone feels as I do and some like to discuss the songs ahead of the Saturday show, but I'm sure I am not the only one who prefers to watch without knowing in advance (to me it's a bit like not wanting to know the score before you watch a football match). Thanks, guys.

Sorry

Thought the title 'Song Choices' would have been obvious - but realise I should have put it as a 'spoiler'.

Again - sorry

I think your request is amost impossible to do without this forum coming to a standstill. I can understand that you want to be surprised with the performers song etc, but ITV have 2 Xtra shows during the week where song choices are discussed.

That's OK - I can easily avoid reading your thread. The kind of thread that has typically been problematical for me is, for example, where someone starts a thread at the beginning of the week called something like 'Songs for next Saturday', where people suggest songs they think the acts should sing, and then at some point during the week people start to discuss the actual songs that they are going to sing.

I wouldn't have thought so. Isn't it easy enough to use spoiler tags? Obviously, if people find it too much trouble, they just won't do it, but I thought it was a reasonable request.

Fair enough, but there's a lot of discussion about the song choices in appreciation threads and such and a lot of such discussion would also have to be spoilertagged to prevent you and people like you from finding out, which could prove too much work.

Well, if it does, it does, I suppose. Let's see how it goes.

I don't think your request is in any way unreasonable.

I'm not bothered here but in the soaps forum I get really irritated when I've inadvertently read a spoiler so I understand what you mean.

You have the option of not reading the forum before you see the programme.

I get very fed up if I read things I don't want to..I started a thread on this here before when a few people were telling us who had got into the final twelve with misleading titles to their threads

So it is reasonable to ask.

However, I think it will be hard to avoid the songs being discussed, unless you don't read the boards from Wednesday until Saturday as the subject crops up such alot by so many people on so many different threads. I doubt everyone will do spoiler tags.

We have been discussing JS's song choices on the JS thread...so best not look there if you don't want to know what they are singing each week.

But I think the only way to avoid it like I said, it just not read the boards...which is a shame. Blame the X factor for telling us in advance each week! I didn't like it at first myself but now have got used to it.

exactly my point. as has the OP. the song choices arent technically spoilers as they are shown on x factor programming. i would understand if they were released by a newspaper before the event but as this is an x factor forum i think its unreasonable to ask people not to comment on what they have seen because a few people choose not to watch it. in the same way that my earlier request was unreasonable.

i personally would prefer not to know the songs.....but I'm aware that by watching the build up programmes and reading this forum i will know them before saturday comes...and thats the decision i make.

I didn't ask anyone not to comment.

Sorry little_dr_ted but you have missed the point I was making.

I think its perfectly acceptable to discuss anything and everything AFTER the programme has been first broadcast. If you haven't seen the original broadcast and chose not to know what happens before you see the repeat, you just don't read this forum.

Sorry......I thought it was kinda obvious.

spoiler tags are a pain to put in though. they are annoying to read as well. all i'm saying is that its quite unreasonable to ask people to do this because you choose not to follow the information given to you by X factor programming.

why not go to the big brother forum and ask them to use spoilers on everything they wish to comment about on the live feed as you choose to watch the highlight programme and don't want to know until then.....same thing really

Some of us don't have access to this information. Granted, I personally would choose not to watch it even if I had the channel in question, but we don't all have the option.

Anyway, I made a polite request and you have made your feelings known. I accept that. If other people share your view that my request is unreasonable, then clearly they won't comply, and I will have to live with it or stop coming here, but I don't think I was out of order to ask.

not out of order....just unreasonable.
i personally would prefer if people didn't spoiler tag the song choices but if people chose to do it i wouldn't ask them to stop.

and as for not having access to the information.....if a person who didn't have E4 asked people to spoiler tag events which took place on the live stream or diary room/nominations uncut would that be considered reasonable?? no is the answer.

I think you've made your point

Why are you discussing BB btw?

well i think its a more valid comparison than the football analogy on the first post.
i mean the premiership dont release the scores before the match on freeview do they?....and the results aren't being discussed anyway. just the songs.
in my opinion my analogy is valid.

a more valid football- based analogy would be if you were on a football forum and you asked all the members to put spoiler tags on team news and formation/squad predictions as you didn't want to know who was playing and in what position before the match....and yes..that would be an unreasonable request.

Sorry I think it is nigh on impossible.. songs are being given out in advance by the X themselves, the media are talking about them, we are talking about them, and we will in the appreciation threads and who should go next threads it is about the songs is it not that people base their opinions in advance so a large discussion point as soon as they are known.. so for me I appreciate you dont want to know, but I think what you ask is pretty difficult to deal with all over a site like this one. ALSO I do want to know the songs as if I have never heard them then I down load them so that I know what they sound like.. just my thoughts.. and being I go to so many sites I can say that many have other rules so maybe you should check out some of the other sites around as well. but dont leave here.
