The loader is a small program that runs when you switch the Humax on or bring it out of standby. Its purpose is to load the main software into memory. Unlike the main software, the loader cannot be updated over-the-air (OTA). It can only be updated using a PC and a serial cable.

Dear experts,
I by mistake pressed format and all the recordings are gone. Is it possible to recover them? I can use the pc link.

Also, not as devastating and urgent to know, can I transfer the update file from Humax to the humax 9200t via usb instead of the 9-pin cable?

Thanks,
Sammie Jordan, a very very stupid girl.

Sorry, they are lost.

The only way to update the firmware is by the RS.232; the USB port is for uploading recordings and that is if you are one of the lucky ones.

You can I believe use a serial-usb adapter to upload from the usb port of your pc but you cannot upload firmware via the usb port of the humax, if that makes sense.

As a New Kid on the Humax 9200T Block I find some of Your Answers Very Very Helpful as it takes a while to get used to using it but I feel as though I am getting there slow but Sure
Have you got to fill in the Time Manually to Record every time you want to record a Programme ?

.... no, just press "GUIDE" button, use the big round arrows surrounding "OK" to scroll through the program guide - when you find something to watch, make sure the gold box is round the program - then press OK - that program will now be in your schedule list (press yellow button to review/edit the list)

Two points. Currently the Guide takes a long time to populate, don't worry about it, just get used to it (turn the box on early if necessary). And if you have the latest software, the skip forward and back buttons, and the fast forward and reverse move quickly thorugh the times (changing days, etc), while on the old software you have to press Green to go into a setting where you can jump days.

Using BBC1, and removal of TUTV & shopping chanels (and any others you don't like), the EPG loads in 5mins.

Five minutes is a fairly long time, I reckon.

And I think it takes longer than that to get the guide for other than the current day.
wgmorg

5mins for the full EPG all 7 days.

Are there any plans to save the EPG to hard disk to stop the long loading times each time you turn it on?

I am in the process of looking to replace my old vcr with a hard drive pvr. I only wish to record from terrestrial channels and my sky digi box. I am very impressed with the spec of the Humax pvr 9200T, but was told by a sales person he "didn't believe" it was suitable for what I wanted. Is he right?, and if so what is the nearest model that would suit my needs please.

The Humax and other PVRs only record information received through it's own tuners. There is no way of importing a signal from say a sky box and recording that. So he is probably right.

Strictly freeview only I'm afraid.

I last checked on this product MANY many moons ago. The FAQ had just launched but it seems it is very out of date.

Is there any document that shows the current state of development on this product (i.e. is it 100% stable yet, what features are "promised", what are still "wanted",what bugs still hanging around). ???

HDD controls is greyed out on my 9200T.

My previous PVR, and any others I've experienced, had an easily viewable monitor along the bottom of the recording or playing menu. The lack of this is the biggest problem I have with the Humax.
