As a Simply Red fan I can only say I cannot see Shayne pulling this one off, it was in fact not Simply Reds song either, it was the Stylistics song
QUOTE
It was unique among Stylistics' records in that it featured two lead vocals, Airrion Love and Russell Thompkins, Jr. Released as a single in March 1974, it quickly scaled the pop, soul, and easy listening charts. On May 22, it was certified gold -- the sixth and last million-seller for the Stylistics. UNQUOTE

This is why for me I am not sure Shayne can do this, if you listen to Simply Red sing this you would think it WAS two singers as he can pull off the deeper notes as well as the high ones with ease.. and it is not easy to be able to do that. I have seen people here aready saying Shyane THINKS he has a falsetto voice.. which means that they do not think he has, and I am sure he is not going to be anywhere near as good as Simply Red.. who made this SONG totally his own as it is nothing like the original which used two voices but of deeper tones, not sure they even have a falsetto on this song, you can listen to a clip of theres here, lets hope he proves me wrong as I like the lad. If you have not heard both versions would say listen to both but listen here to Simply Red on his own site

Stylistics clip

Anyway he is going to have to go some to impress Simply Red fans is all I can say.. and remember where Mick Hucknall is from ... Manchester so I imagine he will be routing for Shayne!!!
