OK.

With firefly.

Select IAX network

Server: sip.sipdiscount.com
Username: [your username]
Password: [Your password]

All tick - Route my internal calls using this network.

Then when you dial a number you need to do so in the international format ie) 00 44 117 ........

I discovered this service yesterday and am thinking about paying 5 euros to get unlimited free UK calls.

Can you please tell me if the service is any good and if indeed the UK calls are free?

Thanks, Paul.

Are the call lengths truly unlimited and free in the UK?

If you check your billing page, have you been charged for any calls yet?

Do you think I should pay?

Both SIP Discount and VoIP Cheap offer free calls to UK landlines and other destinations. How long they will offer free calls for I don't know, but as an indication their other service VoIP Buster offered free calls to UK landlines for 7 months.

I use an ATA with SIP Discount and people don't know I am not using a landline service unless I tell them.

Analogue Telephone Adaptor, a device where you connect a standard corded or cordless phone to, and use the VoIP service using attached phone without the need of the PC being switched on.

£40 + P&P.

If you are using phones designed only for use in the UK, they might not have the ring circuit built in and therefore not ring out, so you would need either a US Plug to BT Socket Adaptor w/Ring Capacitor for each line, the PAP2 comes with two lines, each with a REN of 5, or you could butcher a RJ11 cable and connect it to a BABT master socket.

Do you know why they stopped offering free UK calls on that service?

No idea why they stopped, these free calls to landline won't last forever so I'd get them whilst you can.

I keep getting the engaged signal using 'test' to try the service. Any ideas why? I am using a Grandstream 486

Thanks.

Try removing the outbound proxy, if that doesn't work also change the SIP
Proxy/registrar: sip1.sipdiscount.com to SIP Proxy/registrar:
sip.sipdiscount.com

I have heard some people saying they often get engaged numbers, when they aren't engaged, must say I haven't had any problems, no problems today either.
