be aware fellow mobile phone users
I got a text today from 0778 089 9806 saying: Quote:
We tried to contact you re your reply to our offer of 750 mins 150 text and a new video phone call 0800 298 8890 now or reply for free delivery tomorrow.
so out of curiosity I rung (never actually replied to any text about this before this text arrived) asked where they got my number from and they said they buy mobile numbers from different sources. I have never put my mobile phone number out to any website or offer or anything, its amazing how freely information is given for the right price.I thought I would just warn people about this as I found it suspicious with them saying in the text "We tried to contact you re your reply to our offer" considering I was never offered anything to reply to. |

In a way it worked it got you to ring them, its just a ploy to do just that, and you fell for it even though you didnt buy anything.
I get them every now and again and just delete them. |

I got that exact same message. My mobile number is registered with the telephone preference service so if they're based in the UK they shouldn't be sending me these texts.

Why didn't you just thank them for their kind offer, give them your address and tell them you'd be looking forward to receiving a nice new video phone in the morning
![]() Alternatively, do what I did last time someone texted me a message like that - call them after they close (do it from a landline & withhold your number) and fill their answer phone up with messages, eg tv programme, radio programme etc. Make lots of calls and they will just delete the lot (including any genuine inquiries) out of frustration. I managed to make 5 hours of calls one night to one number (each call was just under 2 mins long) - that would have cost them a bob or 2; tried the following night but they had disconnected the 0800 number

I would guess it's that celltalk company again, they are the biggest text spammers in the UK and try and get people to buy phone contracts. There's plenty on the net about them and I've complained to the ASA.
The ASA have judged against them once before, but they ignored the judgement and continue to spam breaking several rules about texting. All I can say is keep complaining about these companies to watchdog, the ASA, your phone opperator, ofcom etc etc It's shocking that a very large company that floats on the stock market is spamming and behaving that way. |

I have just had a cold call from T-Mobile, Indian call centre by the way, offering me 200 anytime minutes for free. when i sounded interested as I have been thing about changing my contract, he then said it would be £2 a month. I asked him to send it in writing. He then asked for bank details which I refused to give as I have no way of knowing he is from T-Mobile. He passed his supervisor on who confirmed his identity although to be fair, it could have been anyone on the phone. his supervisor then mentioned a £60 upfront charge which had not been mentioned before. so its gone from free of charge to £60 + £2pcm. Needless to say i rejected the offer as I would still not give my bank details out to a cold caller. Ive emailed T-Mobile asking them where they bought my details from in the first place.
