pvr-9200t problems

I have had the pvr-9200t for just over a week and am very satisfied with it , except for 2 problems , I am experiencing picture break up on all mux a channels and it is constant, my old Pace on digital box had frequent picture break up on all channels, but it could usually be resolved by switching the box off for a couple of minutes. My transmitter is Winter Hill and I live east of Manchester.

The other problem is that when I turn the volume up on my TV remote it sometimes changes the channels on the
pvr-9200t , my TV is a Sanyo 28 inch non widescreen.

I upgraded to Humaxes top of the range pvr-9200t from their bottom of the range MG-TU1, a basic freeview box with a TUTV slot, but there are 2 features on that which are better than on the pvr-9200t , the EPG has 5 lines and loads quicker and it is possible to see now and next info for every channel without switching over, in addition I didn't experience any picture break up with that box .

Our TV remote volume also seems to have changed the 9200 channels a couple of times (in a weeks use). Ours is a Toshiba.

I found this the other day my, surround amps volume control changes the volume of the Humax box. Not really bothered it's not exactly Humax's fault there are so many remotes for so many products it will be hard to find a frequency range that will not clash with another. My Warfdale DVD remote used to affect my warfdale TV operation which for products from the same manufacturer is far more of a failure.

Cheers

The only thing that has annoyed me with the 9200T is the sound level between my tv and the Humax. You have to use the tv remote to get the sound high enough (twice the level used than when on analogue tv) then when you turn off the Humax you jump out of your skin 'cos the tv is soooooo loud. This is even with the Humax sound control turned up full.
I think this is a minor thing to pay for a cracking unit. I have had no lock-ups/freezes or no lost of faulty recordings what ever I watch/record.
Maybe it's because I have a good signal (81%)?

Do you have the option to pre-set the volume level for each channel on your TV? My Philips TV allows me to do this - so I have the volume for AV1 set to give the same level from the STB as I get from the analogue channels. There is also the option to preset Delta volume - so that differences between channels are evened out. [I can also individually tailor brightness/colour/contrast/sharpness on a per channel basis].

It's worth having a look at the Menu set up on your TV to see if you can do the same.

One Mega annoying thing happened to me last night. We were recording Egypt on BBC1 because Terminator 3 was on C5 at the same time.

Just before 9pm i changed my mind and wanted to record T3 as well so i pressed the REC button for instant record - Found our it instant records also using the EPG times so it recorded 20:59 to 21:00 just 1 minute this happened again in the second half of the film as it began early so i missed a minute again because the machine waited till the EPG time

East of Manchester,

Maybe you should be picking up Saddleworth instead of Winter Hill. Try doing a manual scan rather than an automatic one.

Check http://www.wolfbane.com/cgi-bin/tvd.exe which will will tell you the UHF frequencies for the multiplexes from Saddleworth Transmitter, and the bearing the aerial should be pointing towards.

DDaveBB,

Thanks for that, I must admit I hadn't thought of that although I have just moved house a couple of months back and the likelyhood of me finding the TV manual is, to say the least, remote!

I will look for one on the Panasonic web site and see if I can download it.

I hope it does work as I use approx 1/5th of total volume on normal TV and about half total volume with the Humax.
I can hear the wife now "Typical bloke, wont read the manual!"

Well that didn't take long!

Well done DDaveBB, yes I can change the sound level on each channel including the AV (don't tell the wife!!!!!).

I will try it when I get home off my night shift (don't tell the boss!!!!!!)

I have this problem. The volume control on my Toshiba TV remote seems to also change the channel on the Humax 9200T. I'm a bit annoyed about this actually because I've bought a Harmony 655 (which is great) but it has the same problem. I am wondering if this is a problem on the Humax rather than the TVs as it's seen with different manufacturers of TV.
