A different thread just reminded me of another feature missing from the Humax: there is no facility for setting programme reminders.

FYI just looked at the updated comparison table. The Humax 9200 does record the subtitles with the programs.

Cheers

For me I would not describe this a major problem rather than something that would be nice to have. Cominng from a VCR background I am happy with recording something and watching it later, otherwise I wouldn't have put it onto to record in the first place. You can still pause live TV and then start watching it later (as long as you don't change channels) and it has a generous 2 hr buffer for this.”

Here here! This ridiculous "chase Play" forum issue is way out of proportion.

Give the public 10 marvelous things and they complain they have not got 11!

Actually, mine always fails to record radio in standby, but who cares?

My Sagem 6240 does not have the ability to record radio at all and the Humax has the benefit of a work around - leave it powered up when you pragramme a Radio recording which does work.

Hardly a major issue.

Maybe a list of known remote conflicts could be added.

IE.. When i press "BACK" my heater turns on (dangerous)
Pressing the "UP" causes the creative OSD to pop up on PC

Heater remote & Audigy remote also conflicts & messes
the PVR up so now the pc, heater & pvr are seperated.

I'm not mental (honest)

FWIW I've just bought a Humax TV and also get conflicts between the remote and the Creative software on the computer, I've pushed the computer further under the desk and am more careful when aiming the remote.

ISTR we used to get all kinds of conflicts between various VCRs and a TV (and a JVC and Ferguson VCR which was a badge-engineered JVC both responded indentically to each other's remotes

BUT

in those far off pre-digital days you could set the remote and the offending equipments to use different sets of commands using an actual *switch*

pity this technique hasn't been carried forward.

Actually not so ridulous.

This is the main thing that is stopping me buy one - true there is a work around - but this is (IMO) one of the fundamental requirements of a PRV.

having the EEPROM power down (and therefore lose the EPG) when on standby is laughable - what *were* they thinking.

not having a multi-channel now & next with riminders is the 3rd and last show stopper. Currently, the way I watch TV now this is a show stopper, but that may change with a PVR.

I could live with the rest of the bugs/niggles in the hope that they'd get fixed. Eg auto-padding, radio recording from standby, loss of prog names.

Actually this is the very reason i'm holding back on buying one. Its the one feature we'd use a lot. And there may be ways 'around it' but i dont fancy explaining how and why it is done to the missus.

It may not be important to you but it is to lots of other people.

Chase play is not considered a special feature in the world of PVRs - it is a core feature which the Humax is sadly lacking.

I reckon the situation with chase play and the 9200T is pretty much equivalent to buying a top of the range luxury car only to discover that, for some inexplicable reason, it doesn't have power steering.
