Grrr £20 Gone In 5 Min

My girlfriend went to text 80202 to get the lotto results from O2. She accidently text 80802 and I have got spammed by silly messages with predictions for the future at £1.50 each. I had just put in £20 and in the space of 5 min I am reduced to 34p. I text STOP, I text STOP ALL and they just end up sending me another at £1.50,they won't stop.

They have stopped for now as I don't have any credit left but I think I may have to change my number. What should I do? If I put in more money they will more than likely start again.

why txt for the results when you can buy a paper or get them online or ceefax?

Sure is an expensive lesson for the perils of using horrid mobile phones that disturb the peace and quiet on bus and train journeys.

You can also get them off the WAP service through BBC.....(I know too late) and the bonus is if it's the 300 texts/month sims you're using it also doesnt cost cause you get 1mb allowance each month (subject to the usual top up etc)

Incidentally I tried to get a true tone ringtone yesterday off of O2active and although it deducted 3.50, I didnt get the ring tone. Got to hand it to customer services (when I finally got through) they instantly refunded me the 3.50.........although wonder about the call cost. (after it looked like I'd be on hold for quite a while I went through the top up route )

If you have a problem with O2 you can call them for free on 0800 005 005 (although this number does not seem to work for those with O2 online).

Hi Simon,

Don't worry - in fact luckily for you I can cancel your subscriptions for you on 80202, it just so happens I look after that side of things for O2. If you drop me a mail to wicksta@gmail.com I'll open a case for you and remove your number immediately. (I'll mail you back from my work address once you've mailed me).
