Last night, when Journey South got through was it just me who heard Simon say "Come on boys, smile, smile...."?
I didn't watch the show of the performances so if this has any relevance to that, then I'm sorry I wasted thread space!!!!!
Why would Simon say this though, other than to look good?

I heard him say that too, I suppose image is all important and he wanted them to appear grateful, after all they'd just been saved!

I guess.... but isn't it up to JS what they do with their faces

I thought it was aimed more at the Conways than JS...they came over to congratulate JS and SImon aimed the comment at them.

I thought it was so his new teeth would look good by the contrast.

But why would he be telling the Conways to smile they'd already got through hadn't they

They had already gone through but were still obviously not happy that he criticised them.....he said to them when they got through 'Now do you love me?' so knew they were not happy with him.

I DID love Simon Cowell.....until somebody just informed me on another forum that he used to manage the Teletubbies

The Conways had thrown a major strope and the blonde went missing for a while. They were upset at Simons comments earlier. I think he was just trying to rally them all together, I have a feeling that the Conways dont get on much with the rest of the artists. Brenda and Maria dont seem to mix with them in the house I could be wrong.

I never liked the Conways
I thought they were weird
Now, tell me do they all share 1 bedroom in the house?

Yeep I think they do, JS also share a bedroom and tend to keep to themselves quite a lot. Mainly to stay focused I think. Conways are very strange I agree.

According to Simon The Conways had a strop because they felt his introduction to Journey South where he was talking about them not having any gimics, backing track, choirs etc. was a backhanded slight on them although Simon insists that it wasn't he was just trying to point out how good Journey South were not trying to put the other acts down. Hope that makes sense.

Personally I think they over reacted as Simon's comments although maybe not the most tactful were clearly aimed as a compliment to Journey South and had nought to do with the Conways and secondly what Simon said was the truth he was only pointing out the FACT that Journey South didn't need a backing track or choir. If it had been oppinion they might have had grounds to complain but it was a proven fact. I think they made a mountain out of a mole hill.

Do Js an the Conways seem to hang together, as they are both very erm, isolated????
I like Journey South, I don't think they are weird, I think , like you said Mandy, they just want to stay focused.I think they want to win so badly....
but when the results are called out, the one who to me always looks the most relieved is Maria

I think the Conways are just a bit too over-sensitive.

If the Conways had a strop like Sharon Marshall said that would explain this comment.

Now, I like JS - they are my boys and I want them to do well - but I can understand why the CS wer a bit miffed. To be fair, Simon only has 2 acts to introduce and it's not like he has to do it on the spur of the moment - there is more than enough time to script the intros for each act - he knows the direction each performance is going to take so making the comments he did in the JS intro (to be honest, I wondered why he made the gospel choir remark at the time) ... well, like I say I can understand why CS took it a bit personal.

Me too.

The blonde looked absolutely amazed to go through - was obviously convinced that they would be going home.

Forgot to say, I thought the 'smile' comment was aimed at Journey South too.

I felt that Simon's remark was aimed at Chico who always ends up with a sort of gospel choir in the background.
Absolutely

I actually thought it was only directed at Journey South.

It could quite easilly have been .... but in the context of Saturday's show I can see why it would upset the CS. Like I say, there is plenty of time to plan out the intros and I can't quite see that Simon could have been not just a little aware of how his comments could be construed.

I also thought the 'smile' comment was aimed at JS - but I just thought that they were probably a bit upset too at the intro comparison comments 'cos they would have seen how it had affected the CS.

I think it was aimed at all six of his remaining contestants. It did appear that it was JS who were doing the least smiling at that moment though.
