How involved do you become when watching soaps? Do you relate to the characters, and shout things at the screen when you are annoyed?

Do you have conversations with people about soaps, and talk about the characters like they are real people? If so.. your a soap addict.

I actually talk about them like their real, and when someone dies you actually feel emotion and it is only people acting. Anyone else do the same?

Well, you tell me. When Max died I was so upset my mum hugged me and said "Ahhh, it's ok love, he'll have gone on to better things now,...you know, like dramas and that." And it actually helped a little!

So what do you think? Soap addict or just a bit retarded?

Here's another clue, Kont, you know under your name, where it says 'Location:'? When I read yours I actually got a bit scared and looked over my shoulder !

Draw your own conclusions!

Looked over my shoulder for Kontroversial too :O
I talk about characters like they're rela people and cry when bad things happen
(the most I have ever cried in a soap is in neighbours when Kerry Mangel died and Joe Mangel was trying to save her, Mark Little's brilliant acting made me sob soooooooo much!!)
But I do undersand that soaps are just made up, a figment of some (now very successful) persons imagination!!!
All my mates reckon I need a life, I have been known to cry when I miss an episode of Corrie or Neighbours

If I ever even mentioned a soap to one of my friends, family or colleague they'd look at me like I was something nasty on their shoe. Soaps are for chavs and no-lifes. (Which is why it's a rather guilty thrill to put my feet up four times a week and watch Corrie).

(And yes, I do know it's on 5 times a week, but on Sundays I watch Malcolm in the Middle instead ).

everone watches soaps. i can see how watching eastenders you are mad and sometimes corrie and emmerdale but it is good t see certain things that may have happened in our life and what could happen in our lifes.

If i miss an episode i hav to watch the omnibus for all soaps. Even though i love emmerdlae so much i do watch the rest!!!

I get very involved with stories too! I'm sure you're not dumb! I'm not, I have an IQ of 166!!! Wait a sec, is that bad??? Oh Lord, i don't know.....

Anyway, I wept buckets with Max, and everytime I saw his family I would weep in sympathy. I'm just hideously soppy. And a total soap addict. I cried and cried and cried, tried hiding it from my Mum, thought I was watching 'Titanic again' as she put it. 'No Mum, just Emmerdale!'

I actually sobbed at several points. I'm so sad!

Emmerdale is good at getting me involved. When Sadie revealed about taking those contraceptives (COOOOOW!!!!) my friends and sisters and I were hurling food and cushions (and filthy abuse) at the screen, in defense of Sadie's husband. And yes, we do discuss soaps. I am simply an addict, not a lowlife chav, as many people have hinted on here. I'm a young teenager, I can get away with watching too many soaps, for now, at least.

But I have 13 GCSEs to study for...... perhaps I should turn off the TV for a bit, eh?

OMG, ditto with the 'missing soaps' thing! The other day when we were on the way home, it was 7pm and we were stuck in a jam. My mother peered out of the car and said:

"Oh no, girls, how awful, there's been an accident!"

"WHO CARES, WE'RE MISSING EMMERDALE!!!"

Didn't go down well

I've got thirteen GCSE's to study for too. But you still need to make time for the things you love doing, Internet.. Going out.... TV. And make other time for your revision.

I find soaps are great when I'm a bit bored with real life, but when my life gets a bit more interesting again, soaps all seem a bit pointless.

Fickle, I know.

Me too, so much so that my other half kept giving me odd looks. I get really involved in my soaps and i only watch 4 of them regularly, EE, H@A, Casualty and Holby City.

I know the last 2 are dramas really but i class them as soaps . I've cried my eyes out, shouted at the tv in anger and laughed out loud at the funny bits.

My mum is worse than me! She watches every soap going and when she goes on holiday, i have 2 video's on recording them all

I do that, with EE and E'dale!! And I ALWAYS say WOO-HOO!!! When a character I don't like gets their backside thwacked, literally or figuratively, I go around the next day with a big beam on my face and being lovely to everyone.

Which is why after Jimmy gives Sadie what for after her, ahem, little encounter with Gnome, I'm going to be shining around the place like the sun (or at least a complete grinning maniac) for at least a week!!!!

When Grant and Phil came back to help Peggie after the 'Yeah, you and what army' line, I spontaniously yelled 'Go on son!' really loud at the tele

I was both suprised and ashamed with myself lol
