Hey there everyone.
What I'm wondering is, I've just bought a new spanky gorgeous widescreen Toshiba TV that has dolby digital and dolby 5.1 which I'm waiting to be delivered.
Now I'm looking to buy a DVD player to go with it and its the Scan dvd player thats caught my eye cos not only does it play copied vcds (which most players seem to struggle with) but it plays mp3s, multiregion, macrovision removed etc etc all for 170odd quid and it also has a good write up in the magazines for its good picture quality etc etc (for the price range). The only thing it basically says its lacking is the fact that 'there's no extra sockets on the back for dolby 5.1' (u can read the particular review on http://www.scan.co.uk/sc2000_udreview.htm ).
the specs of the player itself are on http://www.scan.co.uk/sc-2000.htm
So does this mean that if I was to get this player then I would not get dolby 5.1 (or dolby digital) coming through my tv from my dvd disks, or does it mean that I can still get it through my TV player properly with the dolby instructions or whatever it is that does it sent via the scart cable and handled by the tv, meaning that the output sockets on the back of a dvd player are only really for if you don't have a dolby tv and want to output it directly through a hifi or something? or in order to playback dvds in dolby 5.1 on my new tv do I need to get a specific dvd player that has these features on the back?
one last thing, which is the better, dolby digital or dolby 5.1?
thanks in advance for any help given
and sorry if my waffling on confused the issue
I've a habit of doing that
cheers

I think you can add two more speakers to the tv, it says something in the manual.
