Home Cinema with DVD Recorder / JVC THR1
Hi
I'm after a bit of guidance. I'm thinking of getting a DVD recorder to to record progs from my SKY+box and Camcorder. Given the lack of space under my TV I was thinking of replacing my ancient LG Home Cinema system with a Home Cinema System that includeds a DVD recorder, can anyone point me in the right direction of a few good models. I have a small budget (£400 max). I've seen the JVC THR1 for under £300, but can't find any reviews. Is this any good? It'd be handy if the new equip could play MPEGS and maybe even DIVX (AVI's) so can you advise if the models your recommending can do this (or not). My current Home Cinema unit plays region 2 discs and thats it. Thanks for any help you can give |

Or has anyone used the JVC THR3 system ??
Please help, I'd appreciate any advice on any Home Cinema System that includes a DVD Recorder. I'm struggling to find reviews |

There's a review of the JVC TH-R3 (the TH-R1 is the same but without floorstanding speakers) in the December issue (138) of What Home Cinema.
I don't have a scanner so I can't scan it in but I can tell you it got the following rating(s); Style: 4/5 Ease of Use: 4/5 Features: 4/5 Picture: 4/5 Sound: 5/5 Value: 5/5 Overall 4/5 (85%) Feel free to ask any questions. |

Many thanks Mparter, is this the current issue?
Do you know if it plays Mpegs? That would allow me to load more than one film onto a DVD? Not many reviews for other recorders or players seem to state this, only if it plays DIVX (AVIs). Do all players / recorders play Mpegs now ? |

Yes, the next issue is due out on the 17th Nov.
No mention of MPEG in the review I'm afraid. |
