My PAP2 cost me £19.99... Like BexTech's, it connects to Sipgate and SIPDiscount. A local 0121 number from Sipgate for nowt, and free calls from SIPDiscount (okay, so I had to add 5 Euros credit)...
Total investment is £23.38 which now gives me 5 Euros in credit, free calls, and the local number with voicemail. Well worth it - and better than paying Vonage £120 during the course of the next year! |

I have a Linksys PAP2 EU which I am using with sipgate. Does anyone know how to set up sipdiscount on the second port? The main problem is, what do I put in these fields. Auth ID: User ID: I've tried everything but say in Registration State: Can't connect to login server

NAT Mapping Enable: YES
NAT Keep Alive Enable: YES Proxy: sip.sipdiscount.com Use Outbound Proxy: NO Use OB Proxy In Dialog: NO Register: YES User ID: [Your SIP Discount User ID] Password: [Your SIP Discount Password] Use Auth ID: NO Auth ID: [Leave Blank] (or Use Auth ID: YES Auth ID: [Your SIP Discount User ID]) Preferred Codec: G729a Use Pref Codec Only: YES G729a Enable: YES DTMF Tx Method: INFO Dial Plan: (<0:0044>[1-8]xx.|<999:00441216874070>|<:0044121>[2-8]xxxxxxS0 |<##:00>xx.) The above dial plan is for an 0121 area which has a 7 digit local number. 999 translates to the WM police. When you dial 0 this is translated for SIP Discount as 0044. When dialing a local Birmingham number it is prefixed with 0044121. Dialling ## translates as 00, so to call the USA you would dial ##1 |

Thanks for that Bextech. Set it up and its working fine.
Could someone who is with vonage, ditch the Linksys RT31P2 that vonage give free and set up Sipgate on 1 of the phone ports on the Linksys PAP2 EU and Vonage on the other port, Instead of having 2 phone adopters pluged in? |

right, been reading this with interest over the last few weeks, and the sceptic in me has now nearly been convinced by you guys to just give it a lash! but... first i've got a few questions I cant seem to find answers for...
idbuchanan, im confused, as the £20 PAP2 on broadbandbuyer says its for vonage only, can it be reconfigured or something since the non vonage one on the site actually quotes £40? Also, once this convertor thing is plugged in to my normal phone if for some reason I wanted to, can I still use same phone in parallel for receiving/making normal BT calls? Is the quality better/worse/no difference? Can I have 2 sipgate numbers using the same connection? e.g. one for relatives in china and one for family in germany? Any ideas anyone? |

Just canceled vonage. Desided to use sipgate for incoming calls and sipdiscount for outgoing calls as Bextech sugested. I still have the Linksys RT31P2 that vonage sent me. Does anyone know if it can be unlock to use on any other voip?
Does anyone know how to set Voipbuster up on an ATA? |

does sipgate offer call forwarding? And what happens with sipgate when the net is down? Vonage seems to offer solutions to this but couldn't find anything on the sipgate site.

Sipgate don't currently offer forwarding.
You can have voicemail set on when unavailable. Haven't had my net go down yet, other than around 20 months ago for a short while, but not relying on VoIP, though I have tested the results when unplugging my ATA. Without voicemail set on, when no connection to their service the calling person will hear a busy tone. I don't use voicemail myself, as it's not fair on my callers. I have another Sipgate number that is just for voicemail, so when someone can't contact me on any of my numbers (no voicemail on any of them) they can if they wish choose to call my voicemail number, that way they don't get charged for a call when I am already on a call, on don't answer in time. |

Just pluged the Linksys RT31P2 I got from vonage in, been as i no longer use their service i am just curious to know if it can be unlock. I found this Address (http://192.168.15.1/Voice_adminPage.htm) on another forum. When I typed it in the brouser it ask for a username and password whick is different from the default one. I think there sould be a page there to be displayed. Has anyone tried it?
I've found yet another interesting little clue, but most certainly not the unlock key yet. On another site, someone posted that there's a hidden page on his (Australian) WRT54GP2 at »192.168.15.1/Voice_adminPage.htm and he speculated that its there in the rt31p2 also. Sure enough, when I try to open that URL, it exists, but asks for a username & password, and none of the above ones worked. I know what I'm posting here doesn't begin to be enough to unlock a rt31p2, but maybe its clues that will enable someone else to just a *bit* more easily. |
