I know this question will be academic in the future. Is there a PC graphic option yet with an HDMI output?

or has anyone successfully used a DVI to HDMI cable to get a good pc output on a HD ready LCD/Plasma

There are no PC graphic cards with HDMI. You should be able to get a HDMI to DVI converter from Comet for around £30.

Question : When Plasma and LCD TV manufacturers state "The HDMI input is not intended for use with personal computers", are they just hedging their bets or will it actually cause the panel serious damage? Or is it just a case of only HDTV resolutions (i.e. 720p, 1080i) being able to be shown and not "standard" PC resolutions like 1024x768, 1280x1024, etc?

I guess/suspect they mean that you cannot achieve 1:1 pixel mapping on the HDMI input, so text, etc. will look fuzzy.

HDMI can't be used with PCs because it uses overscan.

Yes your correct. I am using my PC for Windows Media Centre. I could use the PC input and that only works for usual pc resolutions at 60 hz. Not great for video. very jerky

Most new graphic cards support hd setups and both my Nvidia and Radeon cards do 1080i and 720p 50 hz with a DVI to HDMI card.

Looks great on HD but there is some overscan lost around the display.

I doubt the display could be damaged, not with a modern LCD or plasma, used to be a problem overdriving incompatible CRT displays
