PSP infrared query

morning all,

i got a new phone at the weekend, a Sony eriksson K700i. It has an infrared port.
So does my PSP.

I've tried sending pics from my phone to store on my psp, but to no avail.

Does anyone know if it can be done, if so how?

According to my son the infrared picture exchange works on PSP to PSP,if you have the recent software downloaded,but he thinks that the only way to transfer from a phone is via the USB socket.
But PSP downloads are quite regular and new features are added.
He has been able to surf the net wirelessly for ages now
