I was actually shocked at result, but hannas costume looked terrible, and the music did not suit a tango at all!! but the steps were good, i think bill should have left or james!

I understand they were getting close to leaving but they were not the worst and have not been the worst performers. Patsy & Anton have looked atrocious on several occasions and they've had their chance saved more than once! And as for the complaining about the dress... it's clear she did not do a proper dress rehearsal. Surely she had the time to jump about in her dress and check it wasn't going to fall down before going out live on BBC1!

From past showings of behind the scenes the day of the show they seem to be in the costumes for most of the day - so I am surprised that she can't have felt it prior to the show being a bit loose, if she was slightly uneasy the costume department would have tighten the straps or added a piece of clear lycra elastic (I knows about these things). I felt her comments reflected badly on the costume department - and having watched the show back - although a little loose ,I think it might have taken the strap to break before anything appeared, also if she had by chance fallen out of the costume - transmission might have been cut, or camera angle adjusted.

I've seen plenty of shows and festivals where perfomers have just carried on - underskirts coming undone falling around ankles and the performer just stepping out and carrying on dancers ribbons undoing and the dancer kicking of the shoe - etc etc

has been known to happen - they've just popped them back in! Jamelia (?) was a bit exposed when she did her eurovision song on uk TV whilst jiggling about and just carried on.

You're absolutely right of course, but Patsy isn't a professional dancer, she lacks confidence and I think she just panicked. If she truely thought that she was going to end up flashing everyone then I can fully understand why she chose to tone it down a bit - it's bad enough if you think that's going to happen when you're out dancing in a nightclub, but when you're on national tv in front of 10million people

I am sure this is just me, but does anyone else find that Patsy's demeanour (when dancing but also when interviewed afterwards) is a bit, well, odd? She comes across like she totally is sloshed. Was especially noticeable this week as she was lurching from one bit of the routine to the next (and I do know this was due to the dress in part) and then with the usual slightly random, hysterical comments afterwards.
I am not for a minute suggesting she is an alcoholic or anything by the way! Just wanted to check if anyone else agrees she comes across slightly oddly sometimes... ?

helene - I'm not sure I noticed it, perhaps to me it came across as her just feeling awkward and vulnerable after last week -who know.

Nerves, I reckon.

I think it still has a lot to do with Patsy's nerves. It's like she over compensates and acts a bit mental. I've worked with a lot of people in a performing arts situation who do a similar thing.

I think if I had been worried about my dress going to go my initial worry would have been the several hundred people in the room with me - ok, they wouldn't have allowed a bare boob to be shown at 7 pm, but everyone in the room would have seen it. I'm with Patsy on this one.

As for the points about having been in the costume all day, isn't it possible that something could have worked loose in the opening sequence? She was using her arms a lot.

I agree with you actually. Colin's a nice enough guy and good dancer but he's the one I'm least attatched to. I don't dislike Colin but I wouldn't miss him terribly if he went. His dancing doesn't particularly excite me.

What really strikes me is how much the public voting must differ from week to week - as two weeks ago (when Will went out) various maths brains on the forum worked out that Bill must be been amongst the very most popular and Patsy almost the least popular, so miles apart.
But last week, she actually did better than him with the public. I can totally see why all the celebs say they know that absolutely anyone could go each week.

It just goes to show how very much the public vote depends on what happens on the night (and how close it must be!) Only once this year, I think, have the couple who came bottom with the judges gone out. Seems to be a mixture of the sympathy vote and fans of a particular couple voting like crazy to save them. Patsy actually could have come 4th of 6 in the public vote (above both James and Bill) and still have been in the bottom 2 on Sat so there's no guarantee James is more popular of the two.

I think Bill went this week because the judges weren't so horrible to him. Arlene giving Patsy a 4 was far too harsh and a lot people voted against that. As soon as one of the judges says something particularly nasty that seems to guarantee more public votes. As does answering them back.

I would have thought that if a celeb has a bad night on Saturday (but stays in) the result will not be apparent until next week, due to a loss of votes during the week. As, maybe, was the case with Will.

That's certainly a possibility. Although I'm pretty convinced that it is only the big fans that vote during the week. Like us lot on here

Those people tend to have their favourites and vote for them regardless. It seems to be the more casual watchers who vote for their favourite on the night that have the deciding power over who goes and stays. And there's so many factors to consider in that, it makes it very unpredictable.

I should image about 2-3 million people watch ITT at most. Compare that to the 10 million watching on a Saturday night. That's an awlful lot of potential extra votes on the night...

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't the total number of votes cast, pretty low for SCD, so any minor fluctuation (sp?) would be significant

Absolutely no idea, I'm afraid. I don't think they ever tell us, do they? I know X-Factor say they get over a million but their lines are only open on the night so...

I still believe that those extra 7-8 million people who only watch on Saturday have the real voting power. I mean look at this weekend's result. If us lot were representative of the general public's vote, there's no way Bill and Karen would have gone.
