Just a thought?

Hey I just had to put this out there. Now, I'm a huge fan of SCD but I was just thinking, is that because I've been ballroom dancing all my life or is it because it's a good show? I know there are people on here who aren't dancers and people who are. Any opinions on this? I think I love it because I love to watch dancing but I dunno if I would be bothered if I'd never danced before. So...let me know what you think!

I have never had a dance lesson in my life, but I love watching Come Dancing. All my friends take the mick because they say only grannies watch it ...I'm 24 by the way.

I don't actually know anyone else who loves watching it as much as me.

I love the costumes, the music, the different dance styles. But i don't think given the opportunity, I would take up learning full time. I like dancing but would rather learn street dance.

Well I've got two left feet, although I have always adored watching all forms of dance (apart from ballet which I can take or leave). I'm mesmorised by great tap dancing and I am a huge fan of Bob Fosse choreography.
So although its not quite the same(!), SCD is an extension of this, mixed with the fun of watching the celebs learn. Its a feel good show too, everyone seems to be enjoying themselves. I just wish it could be on all year!

Its a good show. I'm a runner but with the dark nights, rain and wind at the moment I am thinking of taking up dancing!

It's a good show. I watch it because I like getting to know celebrities out of the roles that they're known for as well as the pretty costumes and the sheer entertainment factor

I'm biased. I'm a dancer. I LOVE THE SHOW!

I think the show is great. I didn't like Strictly Dance Fever at all.

Ooh, first post, how exciting.

Anyway, I'm about as far from a dancer as you can get (clumsy and awkward) and I love SCD. It's the first programme that has actually made dancing interesting for me. I think it's something to do with getting to watch the celebs learn the dance, train and then you get to see the finished product on Saturday. And when the dance works, it can be truly amazing to watch.

I watch because I love the dancing , but mostly because of the celebrities . Whether I have known of them or not before hand , I enjoy watching people out of their usual field learning a new skill.

Can't dance a step and adore this programme, didn't expect to and only started getting into it half way through the first series, now I go into decline when it's not on. I adore the actual dancing, the costumes, I love watching the training bits they show on ITT. It's reawakened childhood memories of being entranced watching the dancers on Come Dancing gliding round the floor as I was growing up, the whole beauty of the dance when they get it right, I just get totally wrapped up in it, the surprises when someone's far better then you thought they would be (e.g. Darren), the pleasure of watching someone improve and gain in confidence (e.g. Will) and of course flashes of Ian's lovely chest . Apologies for this disjointed rambling

I love dancing (did the obligatory ball-room stuff as a kid) and watching the old films with, well Gene Kelly in particular (and Patrick Swayzee has a special place in the old heart too!) but am absolutely hopeless.
However, Mr Mindy does have a couple of new bruises on his shins 'cos apparently my legs have been flailing about in the middle of the night - don't remember much but there was a swirly white dress, feathers and sequins involved!!
(Is this when you know you're getting just that tad too much involved! )

I know how you feel, had a most add dream the other night involving Ian and Zoe and Darren and Lillia, I knew them all and I was in the show and I got to practice with Lillia cause Darren was in the bathroom. Then he came back and I told him he had a great dance and to keep it up. Then it got confusing and some people got lost and Zoe helped me find them and Ian gave me an autograph...and I had to wake up because I was scaring myself!

I have never danced and this is the first series I have watched, moved in with my twin sister who has been watching it since it started and she's got me hooked. Actually I think she's worried about me, she thinks i'm obsessed!! I love the programme, they all look so elegant and there's something very sensual about the ballroom dances. Would love to give it a try but know I would be useless. Will stick to watching it I think. But at 25 aswell, I don't think we're too old musicangel!!

So glad to hear someone agree with me! I feel so bad for not liking it too.. being as it is dance and so good for dance. Did you hear that one of the rather well known dance magazines refused to cover Strictly Dance Fever because it was an embarassment or words to that effect?

I DID however like Vanessa Leigh Hicks in the show. I just felt maybe that the whole series was a bit too amateurish.. the standard of the contestants was poor and the prize was over the top for the quality of the contestants. It shoudl have been like The X Factor but it wasn't.

With you on this one. Did ballroom and latin as a child, years ago, but really love anything to do with dancing ( I loved strictly dance fever as well) including ice dance ( think Lilia started out as an ice skater which is probably why she has such great poise). The show is fantastic and fascinating to watch those celebs 'give it a go'.
