O2 gave me one of these free on contract about 3 months ago (O2 have also paid me back this years total contract fees ). I was going to sell it, but was so impressed, I've kept it.

The phone is good. Obviously not as good at the more recent k750i, but the phone is older and cheaper.

Only problems are (afaik), the camera is not as good as the k750i and the memory is fixed (no possibilty to add memory cards).

There were some issues on the original models/software concerning compatibity with O2 (which you will find reported on some historical websites), but these issues have long since been resolved.

Argos are/were selling this phone on O2 PAYG for less than £76 but they quickly sold out.

Thanks for that, saw it on the Argos website, but it's gone now
He only has around £70 ish to spend, so I don't really think he'll get a new one and I'm not that happy about buying one from Ebay, you just never know what you are getting.

Argos are currently selling them on T-mobile for £74.95 if that's any good.

He could probably get it unlocked and debranded for about £10 if he wanted to stay with O2 (It'll still have the T-Mobile logo on the case though )

Edit:
Or £79.99 from Virgin (includes £5 Virgin airtime)

Note: although the picture doesn't show it, Virgin often have their logo on the phone (like T-mobile do)

Cheers dawson, had seen those, but he is keen to stay with O2, guess he could have it unlocked, at least it would be a new phone. Will see what he thinks....

I've had a K700i for about three months now and have found it to be an excellent phone. Just a couple of minor irritations.
1. The handsfree earpieces have to be inserted to use the built in FM radio as they act as a antenna. The connection of these to the phone is a custom plug which is very poor and is always popping out of its socket.
2. The camera is only average and to comply with the law makes an awful screeching shutter noise.

Thanks for that peeps, he decided to buy one on Orange in the end and will probably get it unlocked. Was only £79.99 in The Link. He is very happy!
