I really don't understand this! He has broken so many commandments from Islam and yet he still continue's with this charade about being a 'devoted Muslim'
As long as he stops with his filthy lifestyle and continue's to become a better Muslim, mentally and physically, then I don't have a problem with that! But I feel he's leading on so many different people! He has to understand that Islam is not something he can pick up whenever he feels like it! Islam is a way of life. I think Chico may have lost his Islamic roots in the beginning and now he's deciding to mend his ways. We need time to see how he's going to handle this situation! It will be hard for him to leave his previous lifestyle, but if he's serious about being a Muslim, he'll have no problem whatsoever!

It might not even be true and who's business is it other than Chico's anyway?!?!

It seems true enough! I ain't saying it's my business but I am a Muslim, and it's hard to see a 'muslim' lose their roots due to the pressures that you face in this society, i.e. sex, drink. All I hope is that he makes the right decision.

Well, I have a few friends that are Muslims and even though they are supposedly devout, it doesn't stop them doing things that are very westernised and would be frowned upon by elders in their religion.

I admire you if you are young and are keeping strict adherence to your faith, but not everybody can or even wants to.

You must be very fortunate to have a lifestyle and faith that makes you happy to go without sex, alcohol and whatever other things you have to turn away from to be true to your religion.

For others, whether it be Muslim, Bhuddist or Catholic, modern life sometimes means that circumstances can dictate actions that don't fall within someone's given faith.

You've commented on the article, yet posted as if you didn't read it!

Chico didn't say he was a 'devoted Muslim'. The Sun have quoted his sister as saying he'll probably marry a virgin.

That's not the same as Chico saying that he thinks it's OK for men to sleep around, but women should stay chaste.

You're naming three very different religions with generally three very different views on the way those who step out of line should be treated.

I realise that, my step daughter is a practising Bhuddist. I was merely making the point that if you belong to a faith, irrespective of the denomination, it can sometimes be difficult to ahere to the respective religion's beliefs and live in todays world.

Pleb, for the record what did you think of Kamal's participation in this year's BB.

Kamal received a lot of support from Muslims and non-Muslims. Would you say your views on Islam and how true Muslims should behave apply to him too?

For me are they running out of stuff to dig up and print THE SUN that is.. as this is stupid.. and moreover do we REALLY care. Unless of course we are his mother and father and padre, priest, or whatever they are called. He has made it plain he respects his religion by fasting and praying to the bitter thoughts of Sharon saying he should eat.. now we sit and discuss his sex life, which he admits to having he is HOW old for gods sake.. Prince Charles was having an affair with a married woman but the CROWN said the wife had to be a virgin.. enter Diana.. was that right NO it was not as Prince Charlie carried on his affair.. I detest double standards.. whats good for the goose is good for the gander.. I do not believe anyone should go blindly into a relationship as Diana did.. and she was not muslim.. so if this is the case I take it Chico will marry a much younger woman... as Charlie did.. must be pure and all that.. REALLY.. what a joke... and he is bloody royality.. Chico is far from that! Miind you I am sure the SUN could come up with some rubbish about a long lost KING uncle..

It is claimed that the source for the Sun story was Chico's sister. I'm sure Chico would have instructed his sister to leak that story. If your sister was to go to a National Tabloid with a story about your religious life, don't you think you would know? Especially as the Publicity Machine would have us believe that Chico comes from a close knit family. Secondly; the Moslem fast during Ramadan is only applicable during daylight hours. They do eat a proper meal in the evening.

No problem GG - it's a shame that religion has been dragged into these discussions. You will see me soon over there and you can be assured of my support for JS. I thought they were marvelous on Saturday.

Could it now be only coincidence that there is a link at the bottom of the Home page, on Chico's site, asking posters to write directly to the Sun Newspaper with an appeal to keep Chico in the X Factor?

With the amount of publicity about the X Factor at the moment, I doubt if his sister went to the Sun about the story.

More likely they contacted her and asked her if she minded having a general chat about Chico. So think using the word 'leak' here is a bit off the mark.

During that conversation no doubt the subject of relgion came up and they probably said something along the lines of "would Chico expect to marry a good Muslim girl?" to which the sister may have replied "probably".

Hey presto - you have a spin to put on the article.

It is The Sun we're talking about here after all.....

And.....pigs might fly!!! Check out the link at the bottom of the Home page on Chico's web site. He's kindly provided it so you, his fans, can write directly to the Sun to say what a wonderful chap you think Chico is!! LOL

Sorry, I'm being blonde - but I really don't understand the point you're trying to make.

Are you accusing Chico of 'using' The Sun for his own means? Surely it works both ways. Nobody is a victim here - particularly not The Sun !

Also - I'm not a fan. Just happen to think he's quite an entertaining chap to watch on a Saturday night. He's certainly not the devil incarnate as you seem to believe.

I find that very odd... he is using the Sun logo as well.. this is for a story in the paper this week that is for sure... but remember this may not be Chico, this could be Sharon it is called publicity and they all need it good and bad to keep everyone talking about them.. and also get new people tuning in... as they sure don't like losing out to Come Dancing in the ratings for a start.

These are ploys that are used.. it could also be the Sun approached the Admin on the site.. but it would seem like last year ANYTHING goes.. .as Pop Idol NEVER allowed them to post on a site LET alone have one of their own.. and I know that as a total fact. ANYWAY I have a much better Idea when you press the link and get to the SUN.. you type IN YOUR subject.. Mine WAS GONEWAY Sisters!! I put a quirky little poem together asking for a boat or plane ticket for them to go home this weekend!!! aren't I wicked..

Thank you GG - an excellent post - I never thought that it could be Sharon O doing the stuff with the papers. You have made an extremely good point. Doubt whether Chico would know his way around the press anyway.
Jeanie: it seemed strange to me that Chico would publish an edict on DS decrying people that go to the press about him, yet the day before an article appeared in the Sun regarding his love life and religion. Then lo and behold there is a link directly from his web site to the Sun so his fans can register their support.
It was only an observation - I can assure you that I'm not paranoid about Chico or anyone else for that matter.

Someone is saying it's a shame that religion has been dragged into these discussions, when they are the people who continue raising it in the first place.

I confesss I visited another local newspaper site and posted my generous comments on Chico (((MEGA-CHICO-TIME))) to their bulletin board. I'm shamless me.
