I currently have a Motorola V635 that I got a few months ago (August i think) on T-Mobile and just ported out from T-Mobile PAYG to Virgin PAYG but not topped up yet.

I saw the Samsung 3G Vodafone phone for £130 in the vodafone shop it comes with £30 free airtime and works with Mobile TV.

I phoned up Virgin and got my PAC code what im wondering, should i make this move and sell my phone to my friend and get that samsung one and move to vodafone?

Whats your opinion?

Hi Steven,

I personally think that you would be better off changing to Orange.

There are now two Orange Service plans available:

Same rates 24/7:

Landlines and Orange phones: 15p per minute
Other Networks: 35p per minute
Answerphone: 10p per minute
GPRS: £4 per MB
CSD WAP: 10p per minute

Plus, get up 50% of your monthly spending back each month. This offer is better than O2's, if you top up by £20 with O2 you'll only get £2 back and with Orange you get £4 back. You can top up by £5,£10,£15,£20,£50 values. So if you top up by £5 4 times in a month, you'll still get £4 back.

The other Service plan:

Top up Free text:

Landlines and Orange phones: 20p per minute
Other networks: 40p per minute
You get plenty of free texts on this service plan!

Which ever service plan you choose, you can opt in to get free Evening calls to other Orange phones. When you top up £10 or more in a month, you'll automatically recieve 600 evening minutes the month after to call orange phones. So get your mates on orange!

Other extras:

1 days unlimited browsing on GPRS and WAP: £1
30 days unlimited browsing on GPRS and WAP: £4
7 days unlimited calls to landlines and orange phones: £15

Plus many more.

Remember, you can choose either 3000 free evening and weekend texts,Bonus credit or repay-prepay. Which ever you choose you can also use free evening calls to orange phones together with the offer your using.

The offer for free orange evening calls ends on 30th November for new customers and 1st January 2006 for existing customers.

Vodafone actually works out more expensive, especially during the day when you pay 30p per minute call a landline! Stop the clock is only for calls at evenings and weekends and Vodafone's reception is terrible.

T-Mobile is quite expensive and will charge for calls to voicemail from December at 10p per minute which is quite a lot for what you get from T-Mobiles very basic voicemail, plus Vodafone and T-Mobile charge quite a lot (Up to 50p per minute) to numbers start 0500,0800,0808,0845,0870,0844 and 0871. Whilst O2,Orange and Virgin Mobile charge the same rate for calling landlines.

O2's customer service costs an arm and leg to call (20p per minute) and sometimes you can be held in a very long queue. Virgin Mobile charges a flat charge of 10p per call and Orange charges 25p per call.

So choose the network that best suits you!

If you are changing to orange, get your new sim card and pac code, call 0800-079-0006 register your details, get your new number and then call the porting helpline:0800-376-2285 to register your PAC to transfer your number.

Or Orange - 240 minutes £20 (aka the 60 minutes £5 a week extra)

In answer to your original question though, IMO its like spending £130 purely for 'stop the clock' and mobile tv... Especially so if you make more than a few calls during the day
