WOOO GO SHARON! I'm just watching that bit on repeat off the BBC Website . The only thing I want to know is how did they know where Chrissie was going after Patrick told them that he had seen her in a taxi? I loved the way how Chrissie turned round and Sharon was there, just as I was expecting!

When chrissie bought the tickets with her credit card, was she buying train tickets to fool the police?

I didnt hear the dialogue that when on in that scene, and I assumed that she was buying her plane tickets with the card and was therefore traced to the airport.

Excellent episode! Acting from Tracy Ann Oberman was great, especially at the end

Quite a good episode, but I thought yesterday's was much better. I suppose considering it was Rob Gittins, it was a triumph (he is usually so cr*p). As another poster said - why does RG get all the important episodes? There are other much better writers - actually, practically ANY of them.

If I hadn't known what was going to happen I would probably have found it very exciting, but having seen the spoilers weeks ago it felt like a bit of a letdown. I wish they would keep important plotline resolutions secret - Emmerdale manage to. The pics of Shaz punching Chrissie were leaked weeks and weeks ago .

The only really memorable thing about it for me was Jane kicking Billy in the nuts. Now all she has to do is the same to Phil and she will be my heroine (NOT that I advocate violence but I will make an exception in that case). I also liked Ian's explanation of what the Vic meant to him, that really rang true for me.

But as for Chrissie's 'escape' - a real let down, none of the tension that there has been in previous episodes. But then since I knew what was going to happen that isn't surprising.

All she had to do was get out of London. Anywhere up north would do and then go abroad.

I believe Manchester is popular with the residents of Albert square.

I couldn't understand why they were still in London.
And why the chuff would they walk through the market, & past the Vic with the place full of Mitchells & coppers.
Just didn't make sense.

TBH I was expecting alot more from this episode, although I enjoyed it, it could have been better.

I enjoyed Chrissies scenes, i'm just so glad there is more to come because the charactor deserves alot more airtime for this one.

I felt sorry for Sharon, it must have been hard hearing Chrissies confession, although she already new, I think she was hoping they would all be proved wrong.

Oh well roll on Thursday

what was even more silly was the police allowing sharon to have a 5 minute conversation with chrissie before they arrested her! But who cares. It was good to watch.

And then stand in the middle of the airport instead staying out of the way to be less conspicuous.

But that is only a small quibble, I really enjoyed tonight's episode and unlike some others I'm glad Chrissie got caught.

I saw Rob Gittin's name in the tv times and my heart sank.

However, I agree that it was not as bad as (well, practically all) his previous efforts.

The episode was good, but he really doesn't seem to be able to pace them properly. After the tension of the other day, with Chrissie almost being found out (I could actually feel her tension) it was a bit of a let-down in that respect.

Chrissie is a fantastic character, and although she was written into a hole I think she deserved a better writer for her 'exit.' And it really does come down to who deserves what. After all, she's provided most of the (decent) drama and a lot of the entertainment for this year.

I loved the scenes with Jane standing upto Phil and the rest of the Mitchells - I thought even Beale's kids could have taken out Billy - but kudos to Jane for standing upto them when Ian couldn't.

I knew what was going to happen, but I don't think that really spoilt it for me.

Rob Gittins did.

I should have been biting my nails to the quick, instead I was interested but not thrilled. I should have been able to feel Chrissie's panic as she tried to get the money and escape - but I couldn't.

With a better writer, I know I would have.

It's a shame that EE couldn't have honoured Chrissie with one of the the better writers for her exit episode, as that would have made it fantastic, nail-biting stuff instead of just entertaining.

Don't get me wrong - I did enjoy it. But with a character of Chrissie's stature (she did take out one of soap's greatest-ever characters) it should have been a thrill-a-minute.

Instead, I felt like I'd gone to a fireworks display and they ran out of fireworks after the first 10 minutes.

Personally, I thought that Ian's speech about wanting to own the Vic was really contrived. Since when did he care so much about it? The only reason for him owning it is so it creates friction with Phil.

Yes that's a good description of it. I am sure you are right, we have Mr Gittins to blame for it. But after his previous woeful efforts I was just pleased he could string a few sentences together. You're right he seems to have no feel for pacing an episode, and a lot of the dialogue felt extremely mundane and not worthy of such a potentially epic episode.

However to be kind to RG - maybe they had already shot their bolt plotwise. I felt we had 'done' all the tension in previous episodes.

But to be less kind, I think if they had given this episode to Richard Davidson, it would have been twice as good. Yet poor RD gets mainly really run of the mill episodes to write - why do the producers have a fixation with Rob Gittins? (I am beginning to suspect that Sarah Phelps has left, I can't actually remember the last episode she wrote and she would normally be wheeled out for an ep like this.)

(Like the idea of Lucy Beale taking out Billy )

Great Episode IMO... very exciting, with Kat still not doing the right thing in the slightest (letting Chrissie go), Peggy moaning on about the fact she was right, Nana Moon showing off her lying skills, Ian getting the Vic, Chrissie and Jake doing a runner, the Police finally twigging Chrissie is a murderer, and Jane kicking Billy.
Of course it was those last three minutes in the airport that really mad it. Chrissie's downfall was a sight to behold, and as usual TAO was on top form, with Queen Tish (my absolute fav) taking the runnings and giving Chrissie exactly what she deserved... a good punch.
It'll be interesting how they take this on Thursday, with Chrissie banged up, and how the story will pan out till she finally leaves (around Christmas some are saying). Hopefully Sharon will get another chance to get her absolute revenge on that bitch!

Hate to disagree but Zoe's exit in Emmerdale beats tonight's Eastenders hands down!

oh no. Please god no. I can't think of anyone less deserving of a storyline. Come back Daddy Fereira, all is forgiven!

Back O/T - the episode tonight was good, but not a classic. It felt too bitty, and more about tying up loose ends than creating tension.

Ians speech about owning the Vic - believable that he sees the Vic as The Big One (and possibly the only business premises in Walford he hasn't traded out of), but up until now he's never expressed any of that. It felt like they decided that 'Better give Adam Woodyatt something to do - hasn't had any scenes for a while'.

Because of the spoilers, I knew that Chrissie was going to be caught tonight, so there wasn't that jumping up and down, shouting at the telly tension you need to carry an episode like that.
Sharon, Nana and Jane were all great. I thought Peggy was awful, just awful though. Really hammy.

I don't mind Rudy but Juley can be annoying can't he?
Tell you what Juley does not want to hurt Ruby as Johnny might do to him what he did to the Fereiras, order him to leave the square and never to return as he never wants to see again
