Anybody else noticed this? Over the last few weeks our selfish Jonny's Geordie accent has become thicker and more pronounced. Why's this?

Is it because he WAS being false (ha ha) and trying to mute his accent in the first few weeks, but has forgotten to keep it muted so it's slipped back to its natural Geordieness?

Or

Is it because he IS being false (ha ha again) and is trying to play on his 'wacky Geordie man' people pleaser role, to impress and get the support of anybody north of Birmingham?

Agreed and he's not even a Geordie, he's from Durham - the posh part, every right minded person knows that Jonny is a tosser by now...

Perhaps Jonny's accent getting thicker is a mirroring that he himself is getting thicker.

I'm from County Durham myself so I'll give a little geography lesson.

Jonny is from Trimdon in County Durham. Yes, people from Trimdon and all over County Durham speak like Jonny (including myself).

The only part of County Durham that could be described as "posh" is Durham City that has middle class schools, a large middle class residential area as well as university that strives for an "Oxbridge" image.

Outside the provincial capital, County Durham is made up of industrial and market towns and pit villages. The residents of these places have strong north eastern accents like Jonny's and are predominately "working-class".

Why do people need an excuse to not like Jonny ? If you dont like him fine, just dont try and give us that pish about him being false.

I have lived all my life 'down south' except for 18months which I recently spent in the Newcastle upon Tyne area. Jonny is typical of many people from that area, he's warm and generous.

Wether he is acting or not is really immaterial to me, I watch BB to be entertained, I dont expect anyone to be acting in one way or another. I find Jonny entertaining at times, not my favourite, nor my least favourite, but probably a decent bloke all the same.

I am a makem living on tyneside and there are (just like many places in the UK) some nasty people here too. Were not all nice, Mr Nice.

Jonny comes across as the average Northern guy (twit?) but there is also an air of falsity to his behaviour. Time will tell of his origonality, I'm sure.
