Putting any polls aside, i get the impression that Journey South are the most popular act with the people on this site....and Nicholas is the least popular. Who thinks Journey South will win?

I think they have a very good chance. At the moment I can see it being between them, Shayne and Maria - which would very conveniently give each judge an act right to the end.

Personally I'd like to see Journey South or Brenda win it but I can't see myself going out and buying records by either of them, I'd have to wait and see what the original material was like.

I can't bear Nicholas and he doesn't have an awful lot of support here which seems to now be reflected by the public vote. I'd say the Conway Sisters are pretty unpopular here too whereas Chico is our equivalent of marmite - people love him or hate him but nobody is indifferent.

I love JS as do most people I know.

Not sure if they can win yet..but it is still early days. And often I wonder if I don't want them to win as often coming second or third can be a blessing.

But yes...everyone I know (and I mean everyone off these boards rather than on them) wants JS to win.

JS are my favs. Whether they will win? No - Shayne or Andy to win, I'm afraid.

DO NOT tell CHICO fans that!! ha ha.. yes I think they are the best there.. but I also realise now that we have Andy Maria ( who I did not rate and for two weeks have seen I was wrong) and Shayne.. who to be honest is no where as good as he was.. last two weeks been a total let down on him. I still think Andy could win this to be honest. I also think they may want a female and there is only one there for me and that is Maria.. but JS have something very different and I think they are just brilliant.. well you all know that.

I like them but I would not say they are my favourite act. I don't think they will win but I hope, and think, they will do well.

I hope so - I put a tenner on them at 6/1.

I think they are definitely growing in popularity - and I think if it went to the vote now it would be a close call between Brenda and JS (that is from comments on this site and reactions generally)

i really like the boys, the fact that they can sing live without any backing songs is in sharon osbornes words fabulous, they are great guys who are grounded and havent let any stardom go to their heads, down to earth northern blokes! always the northerners!

HOLD on we did have one Southerner/... he name was WILL YOUNG do you remember him DOWN to earth egg stains on his jumper.. still the same now, without the egg stains mind.. nice guy.. although I do love northerners... but we DID seriously have THE ONLY BIG WINNER............ no one will ever compare to Will Young NO one has so far... and I do not see any of them that can now... X factor.. talent show.. one act that are remotely any good is Journey South I thought it could be Shayne.. mistake.. and when any of them can topple that CROWN of his success let me know I MAY even vote.... Pop Idol one had more acts in the last 10 who could WIPE the floor with this bunch... and the did not rely on the entertainment that is CHICO.. hell the man is the only other one.. mmm Maria maybe.. JS most certainly.. Andy a could be...................the rest can GO HOME... and NONE of them will ever out sell or have the same impact that final show did.. if you missed it shame on you.. reality shows.. LULU... and WILL YOUNG...

Actually they're both my favourites.

At this stage, I think that they've got the momentum and they'll go on to win. They'll sing "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother" in the final and will melt the hearts of the audience.

They're not my favourites though - I prefer Maria and Brenda.

Ironic then (and a great shame) that the judges only put him through because he was the last person they were seeing and the boys they'd put through were desperately outnumbered by the girls.

For sure, they haven't stardom go to their heads yet , but neither have any of the others (except perhaps Shayne), because guess what??? They're not stars yet!

Nothing to do with their accents.

I could quite easily take Brenda winning. She's really grown on me. I couldn't understand why Sharon put her through before the live shows started. But Maria? No thanks. I never liked her and I've now got to the stage where I'm really so disinterested in her and bored by her I find it difficult to stay in the room.

Brenda all the way! Still, I can't think what she could sing that would beat JS singing "He ain't heavy". That would be a fantastibulous song for them. What could Brenda sing to out do that? Not "I will survive", surely?

And Maria, I really like the idea of her singing the old Rose Royce song "Wishing on a Star", although it would have been equally good for Chenai, and maybe kept her in...?

Yeah, JS singing "He aint Heavy" would turn my head, not because they're brothers but because it would be a fantastic song for them and I'd really like to hear them sing it...

I would like to see JS win, hopefully they will though this year the competition is fierce.

My second favourite is probably Shayne, close followed by Nicholas. I wouldn't put Nicholas down at the bottom, although I want to shake him, he is almost too laid back and in danger of looking like he can't be bothered.

I liked Andy to begin with, I still like him, but he's not 'wowing' me as much. Brenda and Maria are obviously talented but I'm getting so I can't distinguish one performance from another by both of them. I also thought their treatment of Chenai was childish and not nice.

I think Brenda would do a great version of "You're the Best Thing (That Ever Happened to Me)" but she's already done a Gladys Knight song.

IMO Chenai would have done "Wishing on a Star" far better than Maria ever could but then so would Chico as far as I'm concerned sorry but I just don't get that woman.

With the re-emergence of the "War of the Worlds" album in the charts due to the film, a track I'd like to hear JS do would be "Forever Autumn".

Good choice, i'd like to hear them sing that to.

I don't know now if winning is the road to success because so many others have failed while some who didn't win succeed. I think it's all a matter of what there's room for in the market along with (obviously) talent and as they say a bit of the X Factor. I think (IMHO) as Simon said in a previous week "there's a market out there for JS" and that along with all their other obvious talents that they will secure a deal regardless of winning or not. Although it's just my opinion along with a little bit of hope.

No, Will didn't come out during the series. It was a week or two later when "old friends" threatened to out him so it became a damage limitation exercise and Will came out of his own accord. I remember reading it on Teletext when I came in one Saturday night. I can't say I fell off my chair in shock

Korben was outed during the week before the first show and much as I'd hate to think this had a bearing on his fate in the series, I can't help but think it did. Whether he'd won or not, he certainly didn't deserve to go out in the first week.

I went to the PI concert at Wembley and was very impressed by Korben live, not so much by Will.

I'd like to hear that too. I hope Simon Cowell gets one of his lackeys to read these columns!

Is homophobia still so prevalent that people allow it to affect even their musical judgement? Wow! I find that hard to believe. For me, the 70s would not have been the same without David Bowie and Elton John. For sure, my parents went ape because I idolised Bowie in the 70s, but I didn't think that was just because he was gay but because he was obviously at it a great deal outside of wedlock as well as in!

In fact, the main reason ever put against homosexual activity in my family was that it was wrong to have physical relations outside of marriage, not because it was wrong full stop. And who these days is that bothered about marriage (apart of course from the gay community, because they've been denied it so long)?

Oh, I depair, I really do.
