Someone needs to introduce you to the Sugababes who have had more success than Girls Aloud and are still having more success with their new album and single.

And Atomic Kitten of course who also sold more than Girls Aloud have.

And the Spice Girls must be looking on in envy thinking "Dammit, why couldn't we get that successful?"

The only reason Girls Aloud have been successful is because they've been fortunate enough to have been given some decent songs to perform....
Anyone could be as popular as Girls Aloud with the right material....

Why? What's wrong with her? Having seen them all before make-up I can say Nicola is far more naturally pretty than Sarah or Kimberley. Cheryl isn't all that without the heavy eye make-up either. Nadine is a beautiful girl.

Include Banarama as well.

Girls Aloud are far off being the most successful girl band of all time and I don't know where anyone got this idea from. Probably another of Walsh's fairy stories.

WELL THEY dont MIME at live gigs which this shower do.. and badly at that.. I did not see WL so cannot comment.. but when you get as big as they are maybe you can boast you are the biggest selling girlie band.. til then I think GA fans should really look around at what others have achieved FAR more as is listed.. WL biggest selling boy band of all time in Europe and Asia... have a feeling GA will never even come close to being the biggest selling girl band here let alone abroad. I have a big problem with girl bands to be honest.. Spice girls NOT included.. most of them seem to think selling CDs is about how short your skirt is.. does not do it for me I'm afraid and they are ALL far too thin now as well, one looks ancient...

Girls Aloud - 9 top 10 hits including 2 number 1's and 4 number 2's plus 2 albums, a third on the way and a 2nd tour just gone on sale.

Spice Girls - 3 Albums, 9 number 1's and 1 number 1 (beat Girls Aloud)

Bananarama - 25 singles in 11 years with no number 1's or number 2's and 17 of them not even making the top 10

Eternal - 15 singles in six years and 1 number 1 and 3 not making the top 10 and almost all the rest nestling at the bottom of the top 10.

All Saint - 7 singles with 5 number 1's

Well with five out of seven singles going to number 1 I'd put them above Girls Aloud as well.

Though I notice there seems to be certain bits missing on your chart such as number 1 albums (GA haven't had one) or album sales (Atomic Kitten, Spice Girls, All Saints and Sugababes all beat Girls Aloud there too.)

Your evidence that Girls Aloud have had more success than any girl group ever is purely based on the singles chart.

This debate as to who is the most successful girl group is silly really. The most successful British girl group ever is easily the Spice Girls. They were an absolute phenomonon - every single bar one was number1, 2 of which sold over a million and another selling more than 900,000 copies in the UK alone. Also they were huge in America (no other british girl group since - and not many before either - have achieved this). In fact no other act whatsoever has been as successful as the Spice Girls since. Westlife have had more number 1's than the Spice Girls but number1's are far easier to get these days than in the late 90's and Westlife have sold nowhere near as many albums or singles as the Spices did.

But I actually really like Girls Aloud and think all of their songs have been excellent pop songs. Whoever has been writing their songs is very talented indeed.
