Is there anything I need to do/know to enable me to text a friend who lives in the U.S., I recently tried but all I got was Error Sending Message.

If it's any help, i'm on O2 (using a SharpGX30).

Thanks for any help.

It depends which network your friend in the States is on. As far as I know, most UK networks only have agreements for sending texts with a few American networks so it may be that you friend is not on one of these networks.

I used to be on Orange a while ago and found that I couldn't text a friend on the SFR network in France as Orange didn't (and maybe still doesn't) have any agreements between the two networks. So it may be a similar situation between the UK and the USA.

I'm on Vodafone and I was able to send messages when a friend was on holiday over there (On O2) and you didn't have to change anything, just send as normal as you do here.

Usual problem is the format of the international number

It should start: "+1"

Of course, if the person in the USA is using a phone connected to a UK network, you just use the normal number.

Thanks for that tip. A friend of mine moved to Colorado recently & while he cant text me I could send him photos etc but not texts. Changed the 001 to +1 tonight & it works a treat

Now we just need to try & get him on a network where he can reply
