Rape in an alleyway? Not seen this one before.......

(Must be forgetting Toyah).

Suppose it hasn't been done in a while, and a subject that always needs to be broached. Don't think people realise how many women wander down alleyways alone. If it raises awareness, then go for it.

Thanks for telling us that. I think i read that before but it always good Coronation Street doing storylines like that to raise awareness that woman shouldnt walk the streets at night in dark alleyways.

Even if it's excellent (as the Toyah storyline was in my opinion), they'll still probably get stick for it, I'm not sure if it's a good move...

Spoiler
who rapes her then? That was the rumour I heard. Will be interesting to see whether the actress who plays Kelly can pull this off as I haven't thought much to her yet.

Yeah Corrie may get stick for repeating the mugging storyline but its better Corrie doing it again than NOT doing it all and loads of woman end up not realising the dangers of walking in dark alleyways at night and end up getting mugged. I say good on Corrie for keeping on raising the awareness of these kind of mugging issues.

I think Kelly Crabtree is a great actress she certainly knows how to act on different storylines.

I am really beginning to like Kelly. I think the Lloyd stuff was done well and I think the character has been developing. She could be the next Karen McDonald, as she was dubbed when she first arrived. I hope this isn't too much like the Toyah one but then its hardly unlikely that this couldn't happen in the same neighbourhood. Rape is a frequent crime.

That actually sounds pretty good. Hopefully the character won't be raped though, as it really would be too depressing with a rape on Corrie and goodness knows what on Eastenders.

I'll be watching to see how the actress does. Some of the stuff with Llyod has been half decent (when she said how her mother never cared for her etc.).

This sounds like a good storyline for Kelly, and is an issue that Corrie will do well covering.

Tut at Corrie, when in doubt bring in a rape storyline, just like Toyah. I for one won't be wathcing espicially at Chritmas! talk about bad timing.

And Kelly Crabtree and him from Red Dwarf are crap characters anyway. The laxative storyline the other night was dire. Now I'd watch if they got ran over or something like.

By doing this corrie are perpetuaying a myth - that what women should fear is the stranger in the alleyway.

The majority of rapes take place inside - usually the victims home.

The majority of rape victims know their attacker.

And even those rape which are a stranger outside late at night is not the most dangerous time. Women are most likely to be attacked between 5.30 and 8 am

I've been waiting for Kelly to get a good storyline since she first arrived and I think this'll really prove what a great character Kelly is and what a great actress Tupele Dorgu is. I've always liked her while others have taken quite a while to warm to her. Hopefully if this storyline is done well Kelly will survive the axe that's looming when Kieran Roberts takes over.

sounds OK, but not the alley way behind Coronation Street - if that happened it will be too confined like the Toyah rape.

hope its done well.

You only need to read a paper or watch the news to know it's not a good idea to walk down dark alleyways late at night, I don't think seeing it happen on Corrie is going to make much difference.

It sounds a bit deppressing for Xmas, but it will be interesting to see Kelly get a proper story (if that's what it is, and not one of these one episode storylines that are then forgotten about). I used to really dislike Kelly, but I've warmed to her recently

I don't think this storyline is going to be that severe. Corrie tend not to be miserable over Christmas

This sounds like a good storyline (although it's more a quick plot than a storyline). People lately have been complaining there's too much comedy and not enough drama.

I think Kelly is a very good character now, they have developed her slowly over time and she makes a good pairing with Lloyd. I agree she could develop into a 'Karen'.

If the article is correct, she isn't getting raped so it is nothing like the Toyah storyline. Toyah was raped by someone she knew - here Kelly is being mugged by a stranger.
