Don't write Jade off yet. There is slowly, but surely, a turnaround in her popularity and it seems almost certain that she will make the final week.
As the two housemates up for eviction were decided on Saturday night in the live task (PJ and Kate), Jade will definitely not be up for eviction until next week. It is likely that she'll be up against Tim and I can't see her being voted out over him.
Assuming that PJ goes this Friday (although that's not a foregone conclusion, it could be very close) and that Tim goes next week, we're left with a final four of Alex, Jade, Jonny and Kate. From those four, there's no-one that's standing out as a sure-fire winner at the moment.
A couple of weeks ago, Alex looked like he had the whole thing wrapped up and that nobody could catch him in the popularity stakes. However, look at him now ..... his popularity is waning and his close friendship with Adele could prove to be his downfall along with his constant whinging.
Jonny, once considered to be one of the strongest contenders for the crown, is also seeing his popularity fall. For three weeks, he went into his shell and has never fully recovered since. It was only last week, during his impersonations of the other housemates, that we've seen a bit of the old Jonny, but it could prove to be too little, too late.
Does Kate have a chance? Well, yes she does, but she may have shot herself in the foot with her flirting/relationship with Spencer. Falling for the most attractive man in the house may have harmed her chances with the majority of female voters. Having said that, the fact that he was voted out after only 4 weeks may mean that enough time has passed for this not to be an issue.
Then there's Jade. Let's look at the facts. When the nominations were announced last Tuesday, she was firm favourite to go. However, she stayed, and by a huge margin too. Adele received 62% of the votes compared to Jade's 35% of the votes. Nobody could have predicted that the margin would be that big.
Now look at the odds that the bookies are offering on her to win. A few weeks ago, she was given odds of around 66/1, then last week it was 40/1 and now she's 25/1 to win and her odds are narrowing by the day.
Think of the campaigns there'll be to make her the winner if she makes it to the final 4. Graham Norton will be rallying his viewers to make her the winner, as Chris Moyles will probably do as well. Expect one or two of the tabloids, such as the Daily Star, to get behind her as well. There's the fact that she's the underdog now, and we all know how much the Brits love the underdog. Last week's nominations saw her chosen by all of the other housemates and this could work to her advantage.
Her vow to turn over a new leaf a couple of weeks ago seems to be holding true. It didn't just last for a couple of days, and she's making real efforts to change her behaviour and tone down her bitchy side. Last night, Big Brother showed Jade in the diary room being incredibly self-aware and showing a new side to her that we've not seen before. She spoke about how being in the house has shown her sides of her personality that she hadn't noticed before and doesn't like, and how she's working hard to make herself a better person. She came across as a quieter and more reflective person. Not even the country's top spin doctors and politicians could have come up with a moment as brilliant as that.
I stuck my neck out at the beginning of the series and picked Jade out as the winner from about day 3. I was laughed at then and nobody in a million years thought my prediction could ever come true. However, I'm becoming surer and surer by the day and still tip Jade to win. Looks like I could be having the last laugh after all.............
