A couple of quick questions to you experts out there, please:

Is it possible to tranfer material recorded on the Toppy to ordinary VCR (not SVHS) using the SCART lead?

I note there are two RF Out ports. Are these on 2 completely separate UHF outputs eg. channels 24 & 27?
If so, when the Toppy is not recording, would I be able to, say, leave the machine feeding CBBC to the kids room while I'm watching ITV4 in another room upstairs? In other words, just using the tuners to watch digital terrestrial services around the house.

There are lots of RF sockets on the back of the Toppy, but only one of them provides an output from the modulator; that output (and the one on the VCR SCART) is always identical to the output from the main TV one.

In other words, no, you can't have two different video outputs from the box.

I have transferred material to VHS via SCART for someone who wanted a copy of something I had recorded and had only a VCR. Although it's not something I think I would need to do often it is very easy to do.

I'm trying to decide between the 9200 and 5800, one thing I was wondering about with the toppy is: do you need to loop the 1st tuner RF out to the 2nd tuner RF in, or is there an internal loop like the hummy?

Actually there's an EXTERNAL loop I think. So you can either use that or have to separate aerial feeds if you wanter to use a booster/splitter. Seems like yet another + point for the Toppy.

On the Toppy both inputs are external. which of course offers you the flexibility of using two external feeds through the device of your choice, or simply using the supplied cable to loop from one to the other.

Cheers, now all I've got to do is decide which one to go for... I was seriously tempted by the humax 9200, but over the last couple of days I think I've started to change my mind and go for the topfield; seems a bit better quality and the TAPs seem useful too...

This after trawling through 100's of posts ofcourse!
